**I’ve done a couple of these posts back when there was a SOC Sunday to link up with. Figured today was as good as any to just post what came to mind first!
It’s been a week. I don’t even know why it’s been “a week.” I’m physically exhausted and I’m hoping (praying) that this weekend brings some much-needed rest and relaxation. And maybe a movie date with my husband.
Remember when I signed up for two half marathons before the year even started? This was going to be my year of the half marathon. My goal was to run 3 half marathons. One of my half marathons has been canceled. I’m truly sad. It was the September race, and my husband had paid for my registration as a Christmas gift.
I received an email yesterday about a 10k that I ran a few years ago. It’s coming up next month, and I’m tempted to sign up for it. Then there’s a possibility that I’m going to run a 10k in April. So maybe this is the year of the 10k, rather than the half marathon?
I’ve been doing the elliptical most of this week as my primary workout. I have no idea if it’s going to help with my running, but I know my heel doesn’t hurt now (it was pretty sore from treadmill and elliptical last Friday.) And my quads definitely feel a little stronger. I’ve been able to increase my distance (strides) in the same amount of time, with each day that I’ve done the elliptical machine this week. So hopefully it’ll help with my running?
It was -2 degrees when I drove to work this morning. I will not be running outside in those kinds of temperatures. I do not need to run in anything below zero.
My college cross country coach invited me to join the team at practice one day. He recommended their “easy” day, which is probably my hard day. It should be fun, and I hope I can do it sometime this spring.
I saw this on Facebook. It’s so true.
Interesting how my stream of consciousness pulled me back to running.

I used to run a lot, but it’s murder on the joints and I just couldn’t take it anymore, so now I do the elliptical. It’s not exactly like running, but it should still help you strengthen the right muscles!

That’s one of my favorite parts of Legally Blonde. Sorry your 1/2 marathon got cancelled. I’d be sad if one of my 5K’s got cancelled!
Tammy says
Sorry that the one half marathon you were looking forward to got canceled, especially since it was a gift to you – did you at least get your fee back for it? Good luck on the others that you run at throughout the year!
brooke says
have fun at the track!! π

I’ve been using a lot of the elliptical lately also. I am trying to build up to a high incline and hopefully get some strength in my legs. My boyfriend loves to run but I just cannot get into it. I hate running but I love that it’s quick way to get in shape! Good luck with future half marathons! Maybe one day I will get over my love/relationship with running and join one myself π

I don’t run at all but I did try walking last year and I gave that up as soon as it got cold because I am not a fan of cold weather. I use to love doing SOC you brought me back to some great memories of old posts
Cassie @ Southeast by Midwest says
I’m sorry about your marathon getting cancelled. I personally would be secretly thanking God but then I don’t run much π
Lindsey @ Redhead Baby Mama says
I LOVE legally blonde. A great movie. We’ve pumped up the running this year! We’re about the do the Hot Chocolate 15K as a way to prep for the Princess Half. Choose any race you like and get into it π

i can’t love that you quoted legally blonde any more. and i’m doing some 5ks this year. hopefully.

I love that movie, Legally Blonde is so funny! Gosh I have to applaud that you even run an kind of event! The last time I “ran” was when I had a toddler to chase all over the house. Lol.
Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell says
I wish my stream of consciousness would get me moving a bit more! You’re ambitious!

My goodness it’s cold outside in your area. Hope you find a way to get some exercise in and then some rest so you can feel better.

Great post! I’m glad to see running has remained so integral in your life despite a new job and a hectic schedule. I think it’s so important for us to hold onto the hobbies/things that help us relax and make us happy. I’ve been running for the past month and can’t describe how much better it’s making me feel. This is my year of the 5K. My first is Feb. 16th, and I’m super excited. Let us know how the CC practice goes at MHC. Sounds fun!

Hilarious! That is my favorite movie. I used to run halfs and fulls but I haven’t done one in years! You’ve got me itching to register for a race toward the end of the year. I’m like you though, no way I’m running in these negative temps!
Joanna Sormunen says
That was so funny! Yes, happy people don’t shoot their husbands, lol. Glad that it got you back to excercising π
Jennifer @TheRebelChick says
That Reese Witherspoon meme cracks me up every single time I see it! I tend to get all of my endorphins from eating chocolate, but I am trying to change that. Good luck on your runs!
Melissa says
I’m so sorry one was canceled! My goal this year is to get healthy and fit so I did the elliptical tonight. I could only do 10 minutes. Hoping I can get better!
Janel says
That is SOOOo cold! I wouldn’t be out there running either. Honestly, I need to get a kick in the butt to just get running, though!
Ashley M says
Haha I’ve never just wrote about my conscious stream before but I like it. While I can’t run (shin splints that I can’t get rid of) I feel the same way about exercise in general.
Melanie says
haha, that quote!
I’m not a runner, so every time I see or hear someone mention that they do marathons blows my mind!
Jamie says
I’ve been extremely tired this week/month…I hate this time of year…but am hope to get back to exercising everyday for just a short time.
Piera says
Good luck with your races this year! I am actually just starting the C25K program this week and am hoping to sign up for a 5K this year. Baby steps for me LOL.
Liza @ Views From the 'Ville says
I don’t blame you for not running outside in below-zero temps. Then again, I don’t run outside in *above* zero temps lol Love the homage to Legally Blond – haven’t watched that movie in years, but it cracked me up when I first did.
