My husband bought The Book With No Pictures by B.J. Novak for our son this past Christmas. I thought he was a little out of his mind. Our son loves pictures and how could we expect a 3-year-old to sit through a story with no pictures?
I clearly new NOTHING about The Book With No Pictures.
The book relies on funny words and sounds. It also pulls out some really funny (to kids) descriptions, such as blueberry pizza!
For real. This book has also taught my 3-year-old how to say the word “ridiculous.” And “preposterous.”
Lucas loves it. He requests it each night. The first night was a little iffy, but once Kenny got a couple of pages in, Lucas was hooked. Some nights he wants to read it more than once, but we only allow one time per night, and he can choose other books to read. (His other current favorite is Green Eggs & Ham.)
I highly recommend this book. I recommend even more that you sit back while someone else reads it to your kids.
