2013 Year in Review (April – June)

I’m back with another look at the year in review. Things were picking up in April, as opposed to March (and January. Oh. Bad months.) Overall, 2013 hasn’t been the kindest to my family. I’m hoping 2014 has better things to offer us.

Thankfully, though, the next three months were pretty amazing. And I’m glad I have this review to go back and see just how great we had it.

April

Spring arrived. Seriously. It could not have come at a better time. And we went to the zoo! We loved the giraffes!

This month found us getting family photos taken at Picture People. They shot some of my favorite pictures of us as a family (sadly, photos of our son solo are not so great with them. It just hasn’t been working for us for a while.)

I visited Biltmore Estate for their Festival of Flowers. It’s so pretty. I hope we can go again this spring.

I apparently was on a sewing kick in April. This tends to happen when I have trips coming up and I want a new bag or a new toy (cloth book) for the baby.

I made an Old MacDonald cloth book for the toddler. (He still enjoys it.)

Highlight of the month was our trip to DC. We left the toddler with my mom and took off! I completed the Nike Women’s Half marathon with Carol and Melissa and we had the BEST time!

We went to the circus. Our boy loved it!

I opened up about our breastfeeding experience (we had a pretty great one and I hope I can be encouraging for other moms.)

I ran the Biltmore Kiwanis 15k. I PR’ed. I was pretty happy.

I got to hit up the J.Crew warehouse sale (I bought a coat that has received so many great compliments the three times I’ve worn it. Love.)

I changed out our bedroom curtains (I sewed new ones!)

review_icecream Ice cream dates. That is all.

I experienced a few pre-race nerves. Not to worry….

June

I ran the Downhill at Dawn half marathon with Brooke and I had a major PR on this course! It was a beautiful course, the support was fantastic and I could not have asked for a better race. I plan on doing this one again in 2014.

review_downhill I was still doing regular monthly updates. He was 21-months-old. Sweet kid.

I ran the Chamber Challenge 5k. Possibly for the last time, though I didn’t realize it at the time.

I worked on our curb appeal and spent very little money.

Father’s Day was a lot of fun.

review_splasheville We visited Splasheville for the first time. The first visit was hit-or-miss, but we ended up going SO many more times!

My BFF April and I saw NKOTB in Charlotte!

Our travels to Lake Waccamaw and then Florida began. This was the first time we tackled this long of a trip, and it went surprisingly well (we were gone just under 2 weeks.)

  1. Yea! Glad it was a good three months. You ran a lot of races in those three months! So many pretty follower pictures, love it. Happy that nursing was such a good experience for you. I enjoyed it with my three kids too overall; there were some ups and downs but mostly great.
