My 3-year-old’s favorite books
I’ve done a few book round-ups in the past, and I wanted to share my 3-year-old’s favorite books (at the moment.) Books make great gifts and with Easter rapidly approaching, now is a good time to get a few for your child’s Easter basket! At the time of this post, Amazon has a lot of their books on sale, buy 2 and get 1 free. Now is a great time to stock up on children’s books for the holidays or birthdays. Consider ordering a new book for your household and even gifting a book to a friend or family member.
The Book With No Pictures. I forgot how much my son loved this book, and my daughter now has most of this memorized. It’s amazing how entertaining the words are despite having no pictures! B.J. Novak also read his book on Facebook Live last month and we’ve watched his reading three times. My daughter is a huge fan.
The Going to Bed Book. This one is fun to read, and the pictures are cute. Being a board book makes it great for all ages and this has been a collection since my son was 2 or 3.
Goodnight Numbers by Danica McKellar. This book was one of the books mailed to us through Dolly Parton’s reading program. (My daughter receives a free book every month!) I just realized that it’s printed as a board book, which would be idea, however it’s such a fun read.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. This has been a favorite for a while. We have it as a board book, and I think we also have it in hardback. I dare you to not smile while reading this with your preschooler. (This is part of the buy 2, get 1 sale.)
When God Made the World. This is a new release and new to our bedtime book lineup. The illustrations are fantastic, and the story is so good for so many ages. (Another book that is part of the buy 2, get 1 sale.) I’ve talked about this book a few times, and all of Matthew Turner’s books are part of the sale. We own them all, and have given copies to our daycare and preschool classes in the past year. They’re really sweet stories.
10 Little Fingers and 10 Little Toes. This is a cute store, and a very fast read. It’s a padded board book, so it looks larger than it actually is and we read this SO OFTEN. I have it mostly memorized.
Panda Bear Panda Bear, What Do You See? Another book I have mostly memorized. This one has been part of our collection since around 2012 or so. My daughter also has a good portion memorized and can tell when I’ve skipped a page (usually accidentally!) This is ALSO part of the buy 2, get 1 sale.
How Do Dinosaurs Say Happy Birthday? We’re reading this a lot because my 3-year-old? Well, she’s about to turn 4. She loves the questions, and despite spending our birthday at home with very few people, she’s VERY excited about her big day coming up. And you know what this book is part of? Oh yeah. The buy 2, get 1 sale.
ABC and 123: A Sesame Street Treasury of Words and Numbers This is not a new book. It was published in 1998, and I think we got it second-hand for our son. My daughter is OBSESSED with it. We read a few letters each night and go over the different words that start with each letter. It’s less than $10, not part of Prime, but totally worth the money. I highly, highly recommend it.
What books can you add to the list?
