I’m going to combine a little of last week’s answers with this week’s. It’s been a crazy, crazy time around here. We’re so close to our due date, the baby is measuring big, but she’s not going anywhere. (Trust me on this. And family, please don’t call me and ask me if there’s an update. There is no further update. She just. isn’t. going. anywhere.)
We bought a new car last week and less than 48 hours later my husband left for a conference for 4 days (3 nights.) We’re glad he is back, and that we survived. (I even survived a preschooler with a cold.)
How far along am I: 38 Weeks.
Size of baby: Well normally it would be close to 7 pounds. (That’s what I have in Lucas’ update at 38 weeks.) However, this baby is measuring 40.5 weeks.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Between 36 and 37 weeks, I had quite the gain, but I also blame it on the time of day I weighed in. I’ve held steady this week.
Clothes: Last week I gave my running compression socks a try to help with swelling – and they are awesome!
Gender: A girl!
Movement: Still a lot of movement. And we’re getting into a lot of painful jabs. I learned this week which parts were her feet and what might be her elbows.
Sleep: I actually slept ok. Kenny was out of town for 3 nights, which left a lot more room for me to sleep. I didn’t sleep long, but it was solid.
What I miss: Sleeping more than 5.5 hours, eating regularly, being more in control of my body.
Cravings: back to ice water. I found a water bottle I received at Type-A Conference last fall, and it’s been amazing at keeping ice all day!
Symptoms: The swelling, the pain, what more could you want?
Best moment this week: I installed the infant seat in my husband’s (new!!) car. We’re set.
Last week I saw a different doctor than who I normally see. I asked her about the measurements and she mentioned that this baby is measuring two weeks ahead of schedule (see note above. There has been zero progress. I’m not even close to being in labor.) So at 37 weeks, she was measuring 39 weeks. Now at 38 weeks, she’s measuring over 40 weeks. My doctor just agrees that I grow larger than average babies. She’s not concerned by it. I’m not concerned either.
I have had a nagging pain in my side for the past 12 hours or so. I called a nurse and she reassured me it was normal and I need to be off my feet more, so I’m working from home a little more than usual. Hoping I can get some rest and pain-free days before we meet this little one.
