The following post is a collaboration.
Living in the mountains of NC, we do enjoy getting out and exploring the state. It’s been a minute since we’ve all traveled to the Charlotte area, but it really is a fun city – even with kids! It’s easy to travel to and is a good halfway point to meet family who live on the coast. That said, what is there really to do in the Queen City?
A NASCAR experience. We bought a NASCAR experience for my father-in-law through a deals website years ago. He’s a big racing fan, and we thought it would be fun to watch. (We were right.) My son was much smaller, and we bought headphones to protect his ears, but all in all we had a great time watching this all go down. It didn’t consume the entire afternoon, but we could have done a little more around the race track, if we had chosen to.
Professional sports! The city is home of the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Hornets. While Panthers tickets can be pricey, the Hornets are reasonable. And how fun is it that Michael Jordan owns the Hornets now? My kids love sports, and don’t play favorites when it comes to teams. We’re mostly in the mindset that we’ll show up to games and then decide who we’re pulling for.
Kids museums. Charlotte is home to a Discovery Place Science Museum, and we love a good hands on museum. We haven’t been to this particular Discovery Place, but we spent time in another Discovery Place in North Carolina and we honestly could have spent days exploring and playing.
Carowinds. Having all but grown up in western North Carolina, Carowinds is not new to me. It’s a fun amusement park and while it is closed for winter, you can make plans to visit in the spring with the whole family. We’ve visited other parks and can’t wait to get our kids to Carowinds this summer.
Marburger Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram is located in Shelby, NC – and is so close to Charlotte! If you’re in the Gastonia, Charlotte and Kings Mountain area, they offer a wide selection of new and used vehicles. Check out their site for the latest reviews on their 2020 car models!
