4 Reasons Parents Need a Sam’s Club Membership
The following is a sponsored post (and has been updated.) As always, opinions are my own.
My husband and I have been married 11 years. We’ve had our Sam’s Club membership for 11 years and three months. When we were engaged, we were gifted multiple gift cards and I remember deciding to sign up for a Sam’s Club membership. It’s still surprising to me when I learn some people don’t have a membership!
We shop at Sam’s Club at least twice a month. (My husband will do some major grocery shopping about every two months.) We’re fortunate to live about 3 miles from our nearest club, so it isn’t a big deal to stop in for an item or two – and I save a lot on gas when you add it all up over the course of a year! That in itself pays for our membership. (Trust me, I did the math.)
When we had our first child, the savings really started adding up. If you’re a parent, or a soon-to-be parent, here are a few reasons you need to consider getting a Sam’s Club membership:
Babies require so much when it comes to diapers, wipes and clothes, and Sam’s Club has all of that – at every day low prices. They even have baby gear in their clubs. My kids are 2- and 7-years-old and I still buy some of their clothes at Sam’s Club. In the summer, I can get swim diapers from Sam’s Club (and even wrote a post about it once!)
Bulk prices on your favorite foods. We can get a lot of foods – organic, at that – at Sam’s Club. Milk? Check. Vegetables? Check. Breakfast foods? Check. We go through a LOT of milk each week, and it’s so inexpensive to get at Sam’s Club. Also if you eat fish, they have a parmesan encrusted tilapia in the frozen section that is excellent and kid-friendly. My kids love it! We get some spices there, and Bisquick because breakfast for dinner is a common happening in our house.
With those growing kids, you’re going to have laundry to do – and you can get all of your laundry detergent needs at Sam’s Club! (Again, I wrote a post about that a while ago.) A container of detergent from Sam’s lasts us MONTHS.
And let’s not forget about samples. I love taking my kids by Sam’s Club on Saturdays for samples. (I can occasionally feed them most of a lunch on Saturday just by roaming our local club, and picking up whatever we’re needing at the moment.)
I’m updating this in 2021 and while I agree with everything I’ve written above, I no longer take my kids to Sam’s Club for the samples. (2020, amiright?) I stand by everything else and wanted to add one more thing: Pickup orders. I order most of our groceries now, and I love, love, love Sam’s Club’s drive up pick-up options.
And you can get 50% off of a Sam’s Club membership right now.
Too weird. I literally got something in the mail today from Sam’s Club!
I don’t think we have one close by, but it looks like it’s been working for you!!
You bring up such great points! I used to have a membership, but let it lapse many, many years ago. I don’t have small children at home, but young adults. I may have to start my membership back up just to save on gas! And I don’t buy all of the food here, but I’m sure we could save a lot on food if at least one of us had a membership. Thanks for the reminder, Jaime!
I’ve been on the fence for a while, but your post has got me seriously thinking about getting a membership! I love that you can save on organic products; they tend to be much higher at specialty stores and small groceries.
