a crafty Saturday (Frenchy bag by Amy Butler)
I finally got some craft time in and worked on a new bag for ME! I made the small Frenchy Bag (pattern by Amy Butler) for my mother- and sister-in-law for Christmas, and I made the larger version for my mom for Christmas. In fact, for the bag I made this past weekend, I used this same fabric for my mom’s bag. I LOVE it so much. So I’ve have the bag in my head for a few months and finally had time to sew.
I cut everything out on Friday night and it took roughly 3-4 hours to sew it together. My time was broken up (my time is always broken up since we have a toddler in the house.) It came together rather easily, though.
I had to go back and reinforce the handles. I sewed them at the top of the bag, just so the top of the bag wouldn’t collapse when I put anything into it. (And now I’m trying to remember if I did this for any of the bags I made at Christmas. I may have to go back and fix some things!)
I love love love this bag. It’s very deep. I wanted this for our DC trip we’re taking, and I’m so glad I finally had some time to work on it. It is, however, smaller than I had realized. I have all of my necessities in it, but I tend to end up with sippy cups and containers of snacks in my purses – and I don’t have the space for those now. We’ll see if I can make this an every day kind of bag, though.
Do you change out purses/handbags often? I tend to find one I love and use it for months (and months.)
That fabric is gorgeous!! Great job.
still impressed!! i tend to gravitate toward totes these day, and zippers are a must. but like you, when i find one i like, i tend to stick with it a while.
