All things pumpkin – wrapping up October
October was such a hectic month for us with birthdays, anniversaries, work, school, LIFE! We ended September with a visit to the apple orchard where we purchased a pumpkin. I carved that pumpkin about two weeks ago and it lasted about 2.5 days before I realized a squirrel had eaten the design out of it. The pumpkin was obliterated.
So last week I bought another pumpkin. I spent way too much money on a stupid pumpkin, but my son declared that HE picked out the BEST pumpkin. And he wanted such a simple design. I later bought two more pumpkins from the grocery store (for super cheap) and carved a bat design on the morning of Halloween.
I still have an uncarved pumpkin in the trunk of my car. Is there such a thing as carving pumpkins for Thanksgiving?
My kids did not cooperate and pose for pictures in the pumpkin patch. It just wasn’t going to happen.
Last weekend we attended a Halloween party for a couple of hours and did a family theme costume – Star Wars! My baby girl was quite possibly the cutest little Yoda. And my growing boy was the best Storm Trooper! (My husband was an amazing Han Solo and I pulled together an R2D2 outfit – complete with Mickey Ears? I don’t know what I was doing Saturday night…)
On Halloween, my daughter went as a cat – a costume I bought for her on consignment back in August. And she was an adorable cat! My kids. They have so much fun together.
Trick or treating was fun, but the baby and I cut it short so she could be asleep by 7.
My favorite month of the year ended on a high note, and I’m excited to see what November brings us!
I think I failed October. I didn’t buy a single pumpkin!
I overcompensated on the pumpkin thing. I bought enough for both of our families. 😉
Oh my gosh, what a crazy month. I’m imagining you driving around with that pumpkin in your trunk and trying not to laugh. If nothing else, at roast the seeds and make everyone eat them. P.S. That bat carving is amazing. I’m so NOT at all artistically talented, so I I’m super impressed with your skills.
We’re more than a week past Halloween and I just realized I still have a pumpkin in my trunk!
