Almost Wordless Wednesday: Halloween 2016

I mentioned this in yesterday’s post, but my kids were a strawberry and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for Halloween this year. Back story for my son’s costume….he initially wanted Superman and then he wanted to be Cat Boy from PJ Masks. Well by the time I found the Cat Boy costume, it was only available in size 2T (online and in stores.) And that costume was going for $50 and more on Amazon. So while standing in Target one afternoon, I showed him all types of other costumes (plus they were doing some crazy sale on costumes. We needed to commit that day.)

He found the accessories for Raphael and declared that his costume. And he didn’t change his mind the entire month of October. Talk about committed! Also goes to show that boys love accessories just as much as girls. 😉

I’d found a costume on Carter’s website that I loved, but I couldn’t find it in the correct size, so….the baby was a strawberry. The baby costumes were all bulky and warm, and I’m glad we didn’t go with something pricier since it hit 80 degrees on Halloween. Her costume lasted all of 10 minutes before I stripped her out of it.

She basically kicked back and enjoyed the ride through our neighborhood for a brief time.

In years past, we have gone to the fall festival at our church. This year, I toyed with the idea of the festival, but our son was SO excited to do trick or treating, so we stayed in the neighborhood. I started the walk with the family and about halfway through, I took the baby home so she could go to sleep on time (and I could pass out candy to any kids who came by.) It worked out, my son was elated and he eventually fell asleep.

Yesterday, my husband sorted through candy with the boy and I’m so proud of our son. He picked through everything he liked and/or couldn’t eat (he can’t have sticky candy.) He eliminated about half of his candy and wasn’t upset about it. The candy will be used at workshops my husband leads, or we’ll donate it. Thankfully we don’t have to worry about consuming it.

What was the best Halloween costume you saw this year?
