ambitious Sunday

We’ve started packing. We’ve actually got a lot of packed boxes, and it barely looks like we’ve made a dent in our stuff. That’s scary.

Over the past two weeks, I’ve been doing a lot of laundry and rather than folding the clothes like a responsible adult, I’ve allowed the piles of clothes to gather in a laundry hamper in the corner of a room. The clothes kind of leaned against the closet door, so we could stack even more. This morning, I finally folded – in several ways. I gave into the clothes and folded everything. We have a bedroom floor again! It’s nice. Guess I need to start packing clothes that we aren’t going to wear for a while (the summer clothes – we had some flurries covering the deck this morning. Of course, it’s gone now.)

This afternoon I finally decided to take on another project. I’ve been thinking about this one for several months, but didn’t know how easy it was until I tried it! Bath salts. They’re awesome. I had to explain to the husband what they were (not quite bubble bath, but just as relaxing, if not more beneficial for your skin.) I headed to the store for epsom salt, fragrance oils and baking powder, and less than $10 later, I was making them! They’re currently airing out on wax paper in our kitchen. I made lavendar (which was a real essential oil – costing less than $3 when I used the coupon at Michaels) and cucumber melon (not so essential, but not bad for you…and only $2.24 because of the sale at AC Moore.) I even added food coloring so they’re purple and green šŸ™‚ I’m thinking of trying soap next, but that might have to wait until we get into the new house. I just don’t know if I’m up for another science experiment. I can’t wait to use the bath salts, though.

I’ve started a little Christmas shopping. I’m trying to do most things online or by hand this year. There are several reasons behind my online ambitions. First, the economy blows and I’m just not prepared to spend thousands of dollars on gifts. Second, the handmade gifts are generally more appreciated anyway. Third, I’m just not *there* emotionally to do the major shopping. Fourth, I’m a little lazy. Hasn’t everyone figured that out yet? So. Online shopping, it is.

I’m doing most of my shopping through ebates, too, and making money back on a lot of my purchases….which will keep the husband happy. (Sign up through that link, and I’ll get credit for it – and once you sign up, post your own link and you’ll get credit! It’s a great site!!) Nothing like getting money back on your purchases…

And let me take a moment to let everyone know that the baby blanket and diaper cake I made for yesterday’s shower were a HUGE hit. Lots of people were unsure of what a diaper cake was until they saw mine, and the parents-to-be loved everything, which was my main goal!

I guess I should get back to the packing. I have goals each day for how many boxes we’ve packed. I haven’t even done one box today…
