When I was pregnant with my son, a restaurant boasting more than 30 milkshake flavors opened near our house. This excited my ice cream-eating self immensely….until my son was born and we discovered he was sensitive to any dairy I was eating. I quickly dropped my daily weekly milkshakes and went months without the frozen treats, searching for alternatives. This summer I was sent Arctic Zero to try out and I was intrigued! A frozen dessert without dairy? Where was this 6 years go?

Several Arctic Zero Fit Frozen Desserts Pints were shipped to me (that was an interesting package!) and I was eager to try them at once. But here’s the thing. You can’t try them at once because they are very solid when frozen. You either need to let them thaw at room temperature about 15 minutes or microwave the pint for about 30 seconds so you can scoop from them. I usually left them on the counter for 20ish minutes, and they were the perfect scoopable texture.

Arctic Zero Fit Frozen Desserts Pints - a taste test!

Arctic Zero is lactose free, low in sugar and many are gluten free. (My husband is going through an elimination diet right now, so ingredients are important as we navigate no gluten.) A pint of Arctic Zero contains 3-4 grams of protein per serving.

Now, the taste. It doesn’t taste like a creamy ice cream dessert. Plain and simple. Some of the pints have a more mild taste. I like a good frozen dessert, though, so I’ve enjoyed having these around. Because they have so much protein, I find myself filling up faster, and not eating the whole pint in one sitting.

My favorites hands down were Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter Swirl. I felt like Cake Batter was a little too subtle for my liking. Cookie Shake was the same. But give me caramel and peanut butter (mix the two, even) and I’m a happy girl.

The downside of this dessert is that they aren’t the same texture of ice cream, and I do have to wait for them to thaw before I can indulge. I can usually wait a few minutes, though.

The Arctic Zero Fit Frozen Desserts Pints are available to purchase nationwide (I’ve seen them at Target in my area.) You can search for a store carrying the dessert near you on their website.

  1. I suffer from lactose issues and that has definitely affected my ice cream intake. Arctic Zero seems like an ideal solution, especially with such delicious flavor options!

  2. These look like something that are worth trying. My kids and husband love ice cream. We have Sunday sundae parties every week. Gonna try this for this Sunday’s party. Thanks for the info.

  3. I would try Arctic Zero, regular ice cream can sometimes leave my tummy feeling icky so I often don’t eat any. I don’t mind waiting for it to thaw a little as I love a softer ice cream anyways. Glad you shared your thoughts on this brand, I have yet to notice Arctic zone in the freezer aisle yet.

  4. I was vegan as a teenager, and the hardest part was dessert. There are so many options now for people with dietary considerations. Need to look out for this Arctic Zero

  5. We love arctic zero! Its one of our fav desserts to enjoy together. We need to try some new flavors!
