I don’t often recap our weekends, but we stayed busy this weekend…doing a lot of nothing, I think. Those are the best kinds of weekends in my opinion.

Friday I found myself in Cherokee, NC. It’s a little over an hour from Asheville, but much longer from where I started my day. So I just felt like I spent most of my day in the car (which I did.) I’m also still battling a vicious cold, and I didn’t have high hopes for the weekend.

That night, we went to some of a friend’s birthday dinner. They featured tacos, which were awesome. And my kid ate dog food. Twice. Because…awesome. I brought Lucas home early and the husband stayed to play games and drink margaritas. I was out cold before 11 p.m.

Saturday, the boy and I ran errands in the morning and then spent time in the back yard playing t-ball and sliding.

There were also jam sessions in his bed. Obviously.

jamsession The afternoon found us napping (Lucas and the husband) or folding clothes (me). And then we took a long walk to see the animals nearby and to play on a playground. The temps were in the low 50s and we have to take advantage of every day it hits 50 degrees.

I was invited out to a girls’ night for a friend’s birthday, so I joined the girls for dinner at Pack’s Tavern. I immediately ordered the Attitude Adjustment. And then I had two.

Oh, and fried pickle chips, because….why wouldn’t you order them?? (I followed them up with a salad.)

Since I was in no condition to drive at that point, I met another friend, Carol, downtown at the French Broad Chocolate Lounge. I ordered their chocolate mint brownie and a hot chocolate. I also picked up truffles for my husband. We headed back to Carol’s place (she’s just across the street from the Chocolate Lounge) and talked for a few hours, allowed me to drink enough water and get back to driving condition. (The $100 sign was one someone created that morning as one of their “place” numbers.)

Sunday was much of the same. A little preparation for the week and the snow forecast, and doing some last minute prep for a large consignment sale this week (I have to drop my stuff off whenever I can. This snow is really messing with my plans!)

My husband ate his truffles. It was pretty Saturday night. By Sunday? It just looked like pretty poop when he held it up for me. From what I hear, it was good.

Oh, I also booked our hotel room for the Type-A Conference (never too early to be prepared for that conference) and signed up for Blogging Concentrated, which is going to be in Asheville at the end of May! I’m super excited about both conferences and I’m so ready to get my blog-on!

How was your weekend? Are you preparing for snow in your neck of the woods? I’m SO over this winter, and I’ve hardly had any snow to complain about!

  1. Sounds like you had a crazy but fun weekend!! We spent the weekend indoors with my little one who is fighting an ear infection. She is doing much better now šŸ™‚

  2. I love snow. I love looking at snow, making snowmen, and even shoveling snow! I do not, however, drive in it. Here in the Albany, NY area, we’ve seen a little more than usual this year. I may almost be looking forward to Spring. Till the temps hit 60 and then I want winter back!

  3. LOL about the dog food. I’m shocked my children haven’t done that yet… or maybe they did and I just never knew! Thank goodness you finished the weekend with a truffle treat šŸ™‚

  4. Fun stuff! I love the part about you doing the laundry while the boys lounged in bed. Boys… Wasn’t it so wonderful to have nice weather for at least a couple of days. Sigh. Now here we sit snowed in again!

  5. Before we adopted our son, he often ate dog food because it was the only food available to him. Recently when we were out in public, he announced to a friend that was with us very loudly that he loves eating dog food and that he’s so glad that he got to eat dog food when his mom didn’t feed him for days on end. Unfortunately, most people around didn’t know he was referring to his previous mom and not me and I got lots of dirty looks!

  6. Aww, what a fun weekend! I prefer our weekends be super laid back. I love to do my housecleaning (say whaaaaat?!) on the weekends. The weeks are so busy, so I like to catch up on laundry and do most of the picking up on the weekends and just being lazy with the fam.

  7. Are those fried pickles? YUM! They are my favorite. Looks like you had an eventful weekend. I wish mine was more exciting. It was filled with cleaning šŸ™‚

  8. Hope you are feeling better! Sounds like a great weekend! I had a great weekend as well. My husband and I won the King and Queen contest at our local Moose Lodge!

  9. What an action packed weekend. Very unlike ours where we sat around and did a whole of nothing. Okay, that’s a lie. We spent the weekend watching Dexter. Super productive, right? Counts for something! šŸ˜‰

  10. I was double checking to make sure comments went through… and wanted to add that I love your weekend photos and all the delicious desserts you shared… Hectic but fun I can tell. šŸ™‚

  11. I love the cat on the leash. SO cute. And my favorite are fried pickles. ONe of these days I will learn how to make them so I can have them all the time.

  12. Sounds like a fun weekend. I love those kinds of weekends that are filled, but alternating between relaxing (napping and playing) and fun activities (like girls’ night out.)
