{baby update} week 24

Wow. What a difference a week makes. I feel like I’m looking more and more pregnant every day. For the most part I’m feeling pretty great, so I can’t complain.

How far along am I: 24 Weeks

Size of baby: McLittle weighs about a pound and a half. Babycenter compares his size and length to an ear of corn. Random.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I’m up almost 20 pounds. Considering this is what my weight was at when I went to the doctor a week ago, I can’t complain too much. I am watching what I eat a lot more, and trying to hold off on the junk food.

Clothes: Oh the maternity clothes. Love them. I need to find more huge t-shirts so I can continue to exercise and be a little less self-conscious. My “big” sweatshirts are no longer big, and my huge work t-shirts are no longer huge. What is happening?!? (I’m kidding. I know what’s happening.)

Gender: It’s a boy!

Movement: Lots of movement. It seems that McLittle is very active around 10:00 at night, and throughout the day. If I’m up at 11, I don’t feel much movement. (Maybe that’s a sign that he’ll take a hint from his parents and go to sleep early.)

Sleep: Sleeping is still great. I just need to go to bed earlier. There’s been talk of getting me a body pillow soon. Now if I could keep my husband and cat in there own sections of the bed, I could get even more rest. I’m also trying to sleep more on my side, but I am most comfortable on my back. I’ve read that it isn’t really a problem (sleeping on your back) and that if it were a problem, I’d wake up before any harm was done to the baby. I hope so.

What I miss: My memory. I forget things all of the time. I’m afraid that my memory will never return.

Cravings: We’re back to pineapple, and my husband totally delivered with a case of Dole (canned) pineapple from Sam’s Club. Right brand, right fruit, all is right in our household. Oh, and chocolate milk is a new one. I rarely crave milk (I don’t drink it like I should, either.) I have the no sugar added Nesquik which I added last night and this morning, and it’s divine.

Symptoms: Round ligament pains. I mentioned this to my doctor. I get them most often when I’m walking long(er) distances. She compared it to getting a side stitch when running. Going to see if eating a banana will help with the pains. It can’t hurt, right?

Best moment this week: The crib was delivered, as was one of our car seats! My mom bought our car seat (on sale!) and dropped it off for us. So now we know we can bring the baby home, and he’ll have somewhere to sleep. Oh, and I ran jogged this week! It wasn’t the greatest feeling in the world (see ligament pains above) but I was exercising, and that felt great mentally.

This photo is high quality. I forgot to get a photo last night before I changed out of my work clothes. This was taken in my work bathroom, using a mirror that’s so old that it’s actually a little rusty.
