back to running
This past Monday, my doctor cleared me to exercise. Her only advice was that I ease back into it – so I can’t go out and run 10 miles right now. I thought I’d have a chance to ease back into running while my dad was here (easier access to a babysitter and all that), but I surprisingly didn’t have a chance to get away on my own. So we stuck with walking.
Finally on Thursday, the husband was able to watch the baby while I attempted a mile or two.
I’m happy to say that I am finally back in the running game, after being out of it for six or so months. I ran 2.2 miles on Thursday, and another two miles tonight. It doesn’t sound like much, but when I think of how I had a human cut out of me six weeks ago, it feels like a lot.
My mile splits were around 12 and a half minutes. I have a lot of work to do, but I’m okay with that. I now have goals to eventually get faster, and to increase my mileage (but nothing crazy. I’m not running a half marathon or marathon in 2011!)
For now, I’ll take my slow two miles and be happy knowing that I can do it.
Yeah! So glad you are getting back into your running groove!
That’s the way to go, Jaime!!! Enjoy your miles, as you slowly increase them……
i think its awesome! š baby steps!!
