This weekend is the infamous Bele Chere. I’m a little excited. It’s Asheville’s street festival, and this year is big. It’s 30 years old.
I love music (if you’ve been following my blog, you know that.) Some of my all time favorite musicians are coming to Asheville. And….it’s. all. free. At least my favorites are free.
I’m starting Friday off with Nikki Talley and then Menage, before heading to see Edwin McCain. Oh Edwin….
Saturday will begin at noon with Rachael Sage (and I’m meeting an old friend – and former boss – Steve at the show.) Rachael, followed by The Cheeksters and eventually Stephanie’s id and….wait for it….Cowboy Mouth!!! What’s not to love about Cowboy Mouth? But, here’s the thing. While Cowboy Mouth is starting, so is Sam Thacker over at the Orange Peel, and I may just have a ticket to his show. Lucky for me, Cowboy Mouth is on the Biltmore Avenue stage and the Orange Peel is on Biltmore – a block away from the stage. Score!
I’m not sure about Sunday yet. I think I may need some time to rest before work next week. Yo Momma’s Big Fat Booty Band is playing Sunday afternoon and they’re always fun, but really…I will have to wait and see.
I can’t wait. Kenny’s mom and sister are coming into town on Thursday and they’re all about finding cool jewelry at the festival. I know just the people – I’ve been buying funky earrings from them for the past few years (my mom’s been buying their jewelry for even longer.) The food is cool, but I can take it or leave it. Give me the music.
Love the music.
And, I love Bele Chere.
