Benefits of visiting The Portrait Studio
Disclosure: I’ve been compensated for this post. All opinions are my own.
I’m excited to see what The Portrait Studio can do for us when they open next week. For starters, their studio is in a separate space – and doesn’t open to other busy businesses, thus distracting my child from actually sitting for a photo. Do you recall the last time you tried to get a small child to sit still while people walked around behind you?
I’ve tried several photo studios over the years. I remember getting pictures taken with my cousins, when we were all together as kids, and later with my brother when we were still younger. Looking back, the photos weren’t natural, instead looking very posed and stiff. When our son was born, we tried a studio and had to reschedule because of their lack of ability to stick to a schedule (and we were there early. With a 4-week-old baby.) We tried again a couple weeks after that disastrous booking and it wasn’t much better. I look at the photos now and I’m not wowed, and our child looked very uncomfortable. Not something you want captured in photos.
We tried another studio with a little more success using this website https://www.peerspace.com/plan/photo-shoot which my friend recommended to me. We liked the studio but decided to try a different one. However, the next one we tried took some decent photos, but I remember during one sitting, they posed my son with a basketball.
We’re so not a basketball family. And I don’t have that picture hanging now. I don’t even know where those photos are, actually.
The Portrait Studio will be perfect for family photos. Their space alone makes me want to schedule monthly family photos. I’m such a fan of having family photos taken, but I can’t justify getting my grandmothers out in a field to take natural photos. (One of my grandmas is 90 years old. Asking her to do an outdoor photo shoot would be pushing it.) I would love to have a few multi-generational photos when our second baby is born in a few months.
A studio is perfect for life events – think graduations or engagements. Kindergarten graduation? Adorable. Holidays? Yes. One of my favorite photos of my son is a Valentine’s Day card we made a couple of years ago. I’ve been checking out The Portrait Studio’s site and they have some really cute Valentine’s Day props.
They can also turn your photos into keepsakes. I’m loving the photo cube, but the mugs are so fun too. And canvas prints? SIGN ME UP. Seriously. I love photos on canvas – and I’ve given so many canvas photos to grandparents. They’re pretty and hold up so well.
The Portrait Studio opens in Asheville on January 27. You can book your appointments now, and also sign up for their e-newsletters. Visit them on Facebook or their official site!
Its a beautiful studio, wish I lived closer to Asheville, we would definitely love to visit and see what it is all about. I am a photographer and have never had a professional photo done by anybody other than myself, but the studio is really great and maybe when we visit one day we will drop on by:o)
I can’t wait to try them out! Such a beautiful space and gorgeous pictures!
