I finally got my craft on and completed something! For months, I’ve thought about getting Big Brother and Little Sister t-shirts, but I couldn’t find anything that I loved. To be honest, I was finding a lot of “Big Bro” shirts, and just turned off by them. There’s an ok selection of “little sister” shirts, but just ok.

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased and downloaded the two applique designs from Planet Applique. The best part of these designs (for people with more kids) is the one design actually comes with three versions – big, lil and mid. I wasn’t sure if the sister file came with all three (the website wasn’t clear, like it was with the brother version), but I chanced it.

My mom had the scrap fabric – I only needed about 4 inches by 3 inches – and the toughest part was picking out the thread colors for the letters. The next hardest part was getting my embroidery machine to cooperate, and then finding a replacement hoop when mine broke. Yeah. That was fun. I’ve seen a few free machine embroidery designs which I might try out soon.

One shirt was destroyed in the process (the neck of the shirt got sewn in, and then I couldn’t get everything to line up again. Plus, the hoop broke.) Luckily I had an extra shirt.

I think they turned out really cute!

(I get nothing from Planet Applique to talk about them. I just love their site and they often have great sales going on.)
