birthday registries?
I was having lunch with some friends today, and we were discussing one friend’s upcoming party for her soon-to-be one-year-old son. That friend is starting to attend a lot of birthday parties for one-year-olds as she had a lot of pregnant friends at one time. š
My husband and I had already discussed a small gift and a check for the friend’s son, and my friend mentioned that for one of the party’s she’s attending, the mother of the child actually created a birthday registry for the child.
What do you think? Registries are acceptable for baby showers, weddings and similar events, but would you – or have you – create a registry for your own birthday, or your child’s birthday?
In my own opinion (it’s my blog, so I guess I get to have one), I don’t think that I’d create a registry for my child’s birthday. If the child received gifts, he/she could be happy with that (and I’d be sure that every gift-giver received a thank you card!!)
I don’t know. I was a little thrown off by that. Just wondered what others thought.
Birthday registries sound a bit weird to me, next thing you know they’ll start doing sweet 16 registries (if someone isn’t doing it already).
I think it is a bit pompous myself. I don’t understand why someone would be that tacky.
