5 Wardrobe Essentials for New Baby (including @Carters Original Bodysuit!) #lovecarters

When we found out we were having a baby boy (5.5 years ago), I went out and purchased an outfit for him that day. I still have it – it was a Carter’s romper, blue with a green frog on it. When we found out a year ago we were expecting a girl, I knew we were going to have a hard time not buying every cute outfit we came across. The first item I bought our baby girl was a sleep and play with owls on the feet and the back. I’ve since purchased it in multiple sizes because I love it so much. Baby girl clothes are extremely fun to buy!

We go through baby clothes sometimes as frequently as we go through diapers. It’s no wonder new moms receive so many baby clothes at baby showers. Not only are they super cute, they’re absolutely needed. I’m fortunate that a Carter’s store opened about 5 miles from my house just over a year ago. I find myself in there every month (and still shopping online.) I can’t stop with the girl clothes, and then I check out clothes for my son and I soon find myself with everything I need for the coming months. Carter’s has everything we could possibly need for fall and I am stocked up and prepared for the cooler weather. In case you’re shopping (for your baby or a loved one’s baby), might I recommend the following: 

Long sleeve bodysuits.

The Carter’s Original Bodysuit is amazing and so versatile. I bought a couple of 4- and 5-packs to have on hand. Babies are messy, and my girl can go through several of these in one morning. I love that they can be worn with pants or separate. Babies can get away without wearing pants and these make diaper changes easy, as well as keeping clothes in place with the snaps in the bottom. You can find sets at Carter’s that include a long-sleeve and short-sleeve bodysuit plus pants. Bonus is when you find a cute animal on the pants. 

Sleep and play outfits!

Since my girl is outgrowing her swaddle, I like the sleep and plays at night so she’s warm enough without blankets. I have this sleep and play in several sizes – it was the first outfit I bought her! When she wakes in the morning, I don’t necessarily have to change her clothes. She can play in this (or I can drop her off at my mom’s house, and she can sleep a little longer.) 

Crib shoes.

She’s not walking yet, but she’s starting to get around and aren’t these shoes just the cutest? Socks are always great, but these crib shoes are so soft and adorable! 

Pants.

These look like they would be comfortable. They complement the bodysuits and they’re excellent for layering in the fall. Too warm? Take the pants off and baby can roll around in a bodysuit. Too cold? Leave the pants on. Perfect for short-sleeve bodysuits as well. I like to purchase the 2-packs of pants in various colors since they go well with all of the bodysuits we have. 

Layered outfits!

I’m in love with this sweet outfit – it is a short-sleeve bodysuit, pants and a fleece hoodie! So much perfection. We started the day with the complete outfit, and she ended up in just the bodysuit. (Crazy weather.) The hoodie goes well with other outfits I have for her, and we’ll use it a lot in the next month.
