Many thanks to Bonefish Grill for hosting my husband and I for dinner. While I received gift cards for our food, all opinions are my own.

My husband and I haven’t been out on a real date night in a while. We did go out earlier in December, but it was to finish up some Christmas shopping, and our dinner involved a drive-thru (and eating quickly so we could throw the restaurant evidence away in our outside trash can before the kids could see it.) When given the opportunity to review the seasonal options at Bonefish Grill, I was happy to oblige – and my husband was on board as well.

And this week. Ohhhh, how we needed a night away from the kids. I really wanted to see Pitch Perfect 3, and I wanted to eat dinner without having to make sure everyone was eating without throwing food on the floor. I also didn’t want to have to worry about someone beating the table with a fork. (And shout out to Stacey, one of our most favorite babysitters. My kids love her, and she’s amazing with them.)

So Pitch Perfect 3? I loved it, but I love the two previous movies as well. I’d see it again, and I’ll probably purchase it as soon as it comes out on blu ray. (I think it’s probably time to end the series, though, as the story line was a little out there.) As soon as we were done with the movie, it was dinnertime! Lucky for us, the theater was less than a quarter mile from Bonefish Grill. It’s been YEARS since I’ve eaten there, and this was my husband’s first time.

We had a reservation (initially for 4, but my friend got sick and couldn’t make it.) The reservation was easily changed to 2, and we were seated right away. I was only slightly surprised by how quickly the restaurant was filling up when we left.

I had heard they had a Bellini during the holidays – it wasn’t on the menu, but I made sure to ask about it. It was a Winter White Bellini, and I’m not sure if it was part of their happy hour, but it was only $5 (and it was delicious.) It appears that this drink is only available through January 1, so hurry over to your closest Bonefish Grill and get one. Full disclosure: I paid for our alcohol (as well as tax and gratuity on our meals.) So this part? You don’t have to worry about me steering you wrong. Ask about the Bellini and then order it if it’s available. My husband had a beer that was new to him. (I can’t recall which beer it was, and I didn’t photograph it because….well beer is beer to me.)

We ordered the calamari for an appetizer, and they brought out bread with an oil and pesto. The bread was fantastic, and the calamari was really good. The dipping sauce was sweet and a little bit spicy, and I wanted ALL of the sauce. I first tried calamari on our honeymoon in the Bahamas. I think I’ve had it once since then, but I decided to see if Bonefish could rival our Bahamian resort. (They did.)

Then it was mealtime. We both ordered off the special of the day menu. I had Rhea’s Norwegian Salmon. It was a grilled salmon, topped with crab, sauteed spinach and a lime tomato garlic sauce. I also had spinach and a mashed garlic potatoes on the side. The salmon was so much, I barely touched my sides. (I brought them home and had them for lunch the next day.) Once again, I ordered something I normally don’t order in restaurants. But the salmon was delicious.

My husband had Georges Bank Sea Scallops. They were grilled scallops, topped with a bacon bourbon reduction and bacon. They were also served on seasonal vegetables (which happened to be butternut squash, mushrooms and Brussels sprouts. Three of my husband’s favorite vegetables.) He ate everything, without complaint, and was so full.

We couldn’t fit in dessert. I had eyed the dessert menu, but by the time the server mentioned dessert I knew I was done.

Our service was impeccable, the food was delivered quickly and it was nice to get out of the house and not have to worry about the kids liking everything (or entertaining them during dinner.)

Are you ready for a meal out? I’m giving away one $50 gift card to Bonefish Grill – which is good towards food and beverage only (does not cover alcohol, tax or gratuity.) This giveaway will be up for the next two weeks and you can enter through the Rafflecopter below!
