celebrating 1000
This is my 1000th blog post, which kind of proves that I talk a lot about nonsense (really, just my life.)
Just over a year and a half ago, I bought a sewing machine. I had no idea how to sew, but I really wanted to learn. It’s no secret that I have different craft obsessions, and sewing is a new one. I’ve made a few purses that I absolutely love.
A couple of months ago, I made a tote bag, which I also love (I pretty much love everything I make, mainly because of the satisfaction I get from creating things.) I use the bag for my work stuff. I happened to buy about 5 yards of this striped fabric (because I’m kind of obsessed with stripes…and fabric remnants) and I only needed one yard. Oops.
So this weekend I made another tote bag, which I plan to give away here! My first blog giveaway!
I have one (in the same fabric) that I carry my lunch, books, papers, junk to work in, and I carry books and random travel items in when we go on trips. I love it. I made yet another tote out of a different striped material, that I plan on carrying this week. The pocket is huge – almost 10 inches wide and tall – and the bag is just simple. Of course, I can’t claim that the bag is anywhere near perfect. Whoever wins this will get to see just how un-perfect my sewing skills really are!
So if you’re up for trying to win this bag, just leave a comment. And if you’re not a follower, make sure I can get your email address either through your profile, or leave it in the comments. (I really don’t want to work too hard to track down the winner.) You have until next Sunday night (September 5) at 7 p.m. EST to enter. I’ll choose a winner through random.org.
(Oh, and if you’re feeling crafty yourself, you can make the tote bag using this pattern from sewmamasew.com.)
How adorable!!!
I tried to learn to sew once. It ended with me getting stuck in the tank top that I attempted to make, and my husband having to literally cut me out of it. Sigh.
I think it looks like you did a fabulous job! That fabric is so pretty, too! š
Linds
Its adorable…love stripes and dots!
I am the odd fellow in my family when it comes to creativity…I cant sew, knit, crochet…none of it. So I am in awe of anyone who has the patience and talent to tackle it. Loved seeing all your creations….and congrats on your milestone!
Your bag has some of my favorite colors in it! Love it š
I was reading your post below about pizza crust – I have been frustrated in my attempts to make my own pizza dough, so I often just get it from Earth Fare. It’s cheap and saves me the pain of doing it myself.
Love hand-crafted/sewed stuff so much. I’d love your tote!
Pick me! Pick me!
LOVE that fabric! And your blog š
Congrats on your 1000th post!
Sweet! I always love your sewing projects. We still need to get together and make something easy…like pillows
It’s so cute. I like the stripes and love the colors. I’d be thrilled to win it. 1,000 posts is a special milestone — congrats! (toothwhale@gmail.com)
I’m so far behind on things – I hate I missed entering this! Looks like you did a fantastic job. Maybe I’ll try one when we get moved. š
