I’ve received product from Cat’s Pride in exchange for my opinions detailed in this post. No other compensation was received.

If you’ve been reading my blog for longer than a month (or if you’ve followed me on Instagram for a day or two), you may know about Chloe, my tortoiseshell cat. My husband and I adopted her in March 2009 after we went to an adoption event to just “look” at cats. We had not discussed getting a cat before that Saturday morning, and we came home with Chloe (who was at the time named Frenchie.)

Chloe has since taken over our lives hearts. She is a tortoiseshell cat and has the typical “tortitude” that many torties are known for. We were worried about how she’s handle a baby in the house, and while she may not have been thrilled when our son came home, she warmed up to him and now she will seek him out to pet her. (She’s also still very playful in her old age, and will pounce on him as he walks by unsuspectingly.)

I’ve always been a fan of adopting shelter animals versus buying a pet through a breeder or pet store. Chloe was a few years old when we adopted her. Adult pets aren’t always the first ones adopted. Kittens and puppies are so cute! However, they grow up and adult cats also need homes!

June is National Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month. I recently wrote about Cat’s Pride (and preparing for life with a cat and a new baby.) Cat’s Pride is supporting The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation (JDHF) by donating a portion of every Fresh & Light Ultimate Care litter purchase to support the Foundationā€™s animal advocacy work. The foundation was founded in 2008 by Nancy and Katherine Heigl to increase awareness of inhumane animal treatment and support animal welfare efforts in this country.  The JDHF is dedicated to helping companion animals by eliminating the needless suffering inflicted on animals by human cruelty, indifference and ignorance. Programs include the relocation of pets from high-kill to no-kill shelters for adoption, funding of sterilization for cats and dogs, medical and training assistance for special needs dogs, grants to hardworking ā€œboots on the groundā€ rescues, and working with animal welfare groups nationwide to increase awareness of spay/neuter, humane education and adoption.

Chloe has been using Cat’s PrideĀ Fresh & LightĀ Ultimate CareĀ lightweight litter for the past two months and I think we’re all happy with the switch. The containers don’t weigh 20+ pounds. It isn’t overly scented, yet still masks the smell after Chloe does her business. Also the litter doesn’t leave behind so much dust. Chloe’s litterbox doesn’t have a cover over the box, so we’re all susceptible to the dust. Other litters are so dusty and I hate breathing the dust in.Ā

The folks at Cat’s Pride have offered to giveaway a package including:

  • Vera Bradley Camocat tote in black and white
  • Cat Dancer toy
  • Cat Collar
  • Coupon redeemable for one 10 lb. jug of new Cat’s Pride Fresh & Light Ultimate Care Litter
