The sense of smell is a wonderful thing, isn’t it? Different scents bring up different memories for me. Black Cherry makes me think of my wedding day, sugar cookie and vanilla smells make me think of holiday baking, Christmas tree fragrances help me remember various Christmases and cinnamon takes me back to my grandma’s house.

Growing up, I spent holidays in different places – especially when we moved to North Carolina from New York. I remember as a young child spending Christmas on my grandparents’ farm and the scent of Christmas trees brings me back to those moments. That scent can also take me back to the years my mom would purchase a real tree versus the artificial tree. I can distinctly remember going to area tree lots to find our perfect tree, having it strapped to the top of the car and then the time it would take to set it up in its tree stand to decorating it with my mom and my brother. This also leads to the year my mom gave us a cat – Snowball – for Christmas.

In my grandma’s house in North Carolina, she had a cinnamon-scented broom that hung on her dining room/kitchen wall. I spent many afternoons doing homework in that kitchen. Now I spend many holiday dinners in that space. Whenever I smell cinnamon, I’m immediately taken back to the kitchen and our loud family dinners.

My family probably won’t experience the Christmas in the farmhouse and my grandma hasn’t had the cinnamon broom hanging in quite some time, but I can be taken back to those times with the help of the Glade^® Limited Edition Winter Collection. I first came across some of the new scents in Publix just before Thanksgiving. For the holidays they are featuring nine new scents. My husband makes a fantastic apple pie, and it’s something he started making just before we were married. I count on him to help with our baking during the holidays, and the CHERISH THE PRESENT™ Apple Cinnamon scent helps me think of his pies and baking skills. I love that baking is one of the traditions we’ve started since we married 8 years ago!

My mom and grandma are also fantastic bakers, while I am still coming into my own. The scent of SEND A LITTLE LOVE™ Vanilla Biscotti™ can take me to the kitchen frenzy as dozens upon dozens of cookies are baked, just waiting to be sent to family or friends, and to be snacks on Christmas morning (because when it comes to that morning, I think cookies are fine as breakfast treats.)

CHERISH THE PRESENT™ is one of my favorites. I love anything mixed with cinnamon and it gives the house such a holiday feeling. When I have jar candles in the house, everything seems a little cozier and more relaxed, and it forces me to just step back and appreciate the present moment.

I really do love this time of year and how uplifting it can feel surrounded by loved ones. Not only do I enjoy the Glade^® Limited Edition Winter Collection in my own home, but I intend on gifting several of the jar candles this season.
