Celebrating National Day of Running

My family received New Balance shoes, which are mentioned in this post. No other compensation was exchanged, and as usual, all opinions are my own.

It’s here. The national day of running. And guess what? I can actually participate!

That’s right, I was cleared to run yesterday. And after 6 months of not running, I’m soooo ready.

My favorite half marathon is this weekend, and I’m obviously sitting out this year. I’m not even thinking about the new 5k they introduced. My goal is to get back into 5k running shape by the end of the summer, and eventually set a half marathon goal. One step at a time.

Literally. One. step. at. a. time.

And this time I have an additional person to bring along for the (ride) run. While my baby isn’t quite ready to ride in the jogging stroller as I run, she will be later this summer.

My son has seen how fun races can be (you know, from the comfort of the jogging stroller) and the past couple of months he has been asking me if certain shoes are “running shoes.” I tell him which shoes he can run in, and as of this week he has legit running shoes!

My family received New Balance shoes to get into the spirit of running and it was just in time for National Running Day! We received the Vazee Prizm and the Kids Vazee shoes…and the colors are amazing! I haven’t had a chance to really break mine in yet (I was cleared for running less than 24 hours ago) but I’m hoping to get a lot of miles out of mine this summer. At the moment I can tell you that they are lightweight and BRIGHT! I’m excited to try them out.

And, seriously, how cute are those tiny pink running shoes?? (Coincidentally, my son had a pair of tiny New Balance shoes when he was a tiny boy. His were blue and yellow.)

I hope you’re able to get out there and run a mile – or more! – this Running Day.

Let me just leave you with this running selfie from last night, taken a short 7 hours after I was cleared to exercise!
