change in relaxing weekend plans
My mom and I went over to Tennessee this week to do some outlet shopping and try to relax before the holiday weekend. I took three days off of work (and I’m glad I wasn’t at work, as there were some pretty rough layoffs that I got to miss.)
All was good. We scored some great deals, did our share of retail therapy and even enjoyed the lazy river the resort had to offer us. (There were also three water slides, but I knew I’d be pushing it, if I tried to do one of those.)
On Thursday evening, we arrived back at the hotel just as the sky opened up. We parked in the space closest to the entrance and made a run for the front door. A nice guy saw us, and opened the door for us – and just as I was getting to the door, I slid on the wet cement and fell. Hard. My mom also fell. On top of me. I can only imagine what the poor guests checking in thought. Within seconds, we had a group of people checking on me.
Lucky for me (and McLittle), I’m flexible and I didn’t fall forward or backward. I fell on top of my right leg. My back is a little bruised from where my mom tried to avoid me and clipped me with her foot. My leg is bruised, and my foot is bruised (but no longer swollen.) McLittle moved around Thursday night, and to be on the safe side the nurse had me come into the office on Friday to get checked out. (All is well.)
The best part was when my doctor called me on Friday night after reading the notes about my mishap. She wanted to check on me. I didn’t hear my phone ring….because I was in a bar. (There was a going away gathering for my co-workers.) I didn’t think I should call her back and let her know where I was. š
What started out as a relaxing trip ended with me in the doctor’s office on a Friday afternoon before a holiday. I don’t recommend it.
I fully intend on relaxing for the rest of the holiday weekend.
What are your plans?
Oh dear! I’m glad you’re all right! LOL at the doctor phoning you in the bar though! š
Glad ya’ll came to town! Was good to see you and your mom. Really glad you’re ok…that storm was nasty!
