Christmas re-cap, end of the year and ready for 2018

For weeks (months?) I was looking forward to Christmas break. I had more than two weeks off, the kids would be home, we were traveling just for a few days and it was going to be amazing to kick back and relax – and get over the colds that have been plaguing our household.

(We decorated cookies on Christmas Eve. Possibly the latest I’ve ever done Christmas cookies.)

Reality set in quickly last week and today was the first day we all woke up fever-free. (Ask me tomorrow if my daughter woke from her nap without a fever.) I think I have slept through one night between all of the coughing, medicine administering and nonsense. My house is partly a mess because of sickness and Christmas presents, and HOW is new year in just 3 days?

I’m fortunate, though. I haven’t had to use sick time for these sick days. I’ve been able to help my kiddos, and they’re both on my husband’s insurance so the co-pays aren’t out of this world. Plus, the doctor’s office has been able to get my daughter in within reasonable times and we could be much worse off.

The kids enjoyed Christmas. My son is just now realizing what he didn’t get, but he also sees just how lucky he is. We’re purging his room (and his sister’s room.) They both received a good number of books and toys and clothes. I was gifted several fitness-related things (including a race entry!) and blogging tools! Get ready for some cool photos. šŸ˜‰

My husband and I had a date day/evening yesterday and I’ll be blogging about our dinner out (complete with a giveaway!) very soon – hopefully this weekend. It was a great time out, and it’s one of the last times I’ll eat out until February. (Oh yes. I’m going to refrain from eating out as much as I possibly can in January. More on that soon too.)

Basically I need a few hours to write all of the things to update you! Christmas break clearly didn’t go as planned, but I’m hoping to get out of the house for some blogging therapy tonight.

My girls is back on her game of destroying everything she can, so I think she’s starting to feel better.

Also we had our dishwasher installed yesterday. If you’ll recall, it broke more than 6 weeks ago. We got new countertops to go along with the dishwasher, and our kitchen looks AMAZING. It’s the one clean area in our house at the moment.

And let’s look at this month. I have a couple of posts that people are finding and apparently loving.

DIY Headache Bath Bombs (I LOVE that this is so popular – especially during the holidays!) :p

Holiday Party Games roundup (Check these out if you’re going to be with a few people this weekend and New Year!)

Peppermint Sugar Scrub (Smells so good, and is SO EASY to make!)

How are you going to ring in the new year on Sunday? We’ll be staying in, but probably do something with the kids.
