Christmas tree part 2
Tonight I started on the decorating of the tree. So far, Chloe hasn’t even seen the decorations. I don’t think she’s feeling like her normal crazy self (she’s sneezing a lot and sleeping even more. She’s eating and drinking her water, so I’m not too worried yet.) Chloe did, however, grab one of the branches to scratch her face with. She’s a grabber – ask any one of our friends who has spent some time with her. She likes to grab your hand and show you where to pet her….and she’s been doing that with the tree. I’ve sprayed her with the water bottle, and that stopped her for the time being.
So the tree is decorated and this year I’m pulling out all of the ornaments. Even the Hallmark ornaments that have never made it out of their boxes. Last year, I bought an artificial tree at Target, and it’s 6 1/2 feet tall (or 7, I can’t remember) which makes it a lot taller than the previous fake tree. That means more limbs for decorating. Up until a few years ago I only hung hand painted ornaments. When I met the husband (and we moved in together) I broke my rule and started hanging both of our sets of ornaments. We have a lot (which is awesome) but I never got around to hanging the ornaments in the boxes. You know, the “collectible” ornaments? Yeah, no longer collector’s items. They’re hanging on my tree! One of my favorites that I broke out tonight is a talking Lion King ornament. I remember my mom and brother giving it to me the Christmas I was sick (bronchitis struck on December 26) but didn’t realize until tonight that it was a talking ornament!! That was in 2005. How did I not notice that before?
If you’ll recall, we moved into the house on December 6 of last year, not giving ourselves much time to really decorate for Christmas. I’m very excited about the season this year. I can take my time and enjoy everything.
Pictures to come. You’re not going to want to miss my decorations 🙂
