crazy shopping
For several years, I was able to drag my brother out for Black Friday shopping. I remember one year hitting up Best Buy around 3 a.m. (we didn’t stay long – the line was insane) and another year in Target, scoring great deals on really cool items like digital picture frames. Last year was the first time we didn’t shop the day after Thanksgiving together (I actually worked early in the morning last Black Friday.)
I was determined to make up for it this year.
Jason wasn’t it town, but I did somehow convince Aileen to head out at 4 a.m. It was an experience I’m sure she won’t forget.
But first I had to call my dad. At 3:40 this morning, I accidentally activated my phone (it’s a touch screen) and it dialed the last person I talked to. That happened to be my dad. I realized it after the call had connected for 10 seconds, and I hung up the phone. Dad called me back. He obviously thought something was wrong. Nope. I was just going shopping! I apologized, we laughed, and his response was “well, I’m glad you called!” Nothing like a 3:40 a.m. wake-up call to get your day started!
Aileen and I ventured to JCPenney first, Chick-fil-A for breakfast, Belk next, back to JCPenney and we were at Target at 5:07 a.m. Target was a MAD HOUSE! It was totally worth it, though. I got everything on my list (which I obviously can’t share here since many of my gifts are for some of my blog readers!) and I saved a ton of money. I figured out that I saved over $100 on the gifts I bought today. And that’s if the gifts were on sale already – they just happened to be really on sale today!
I’m officially in Christmas mode. I’m ready to decorate (maybe tomorrow night) and I can’t wait to start wrapping presents. This is going to be a good Christmas!
Were you crazy enough to go shopping this morning? (I have managed to take two naps and am preparing to head to the Orange Peel for a concert tonight. I’m still exhausted, but hope I can make it through the show!)
Sounds like a great time!
I stayed home this year. I pulled out my Christmas decorations.
Yeah for snagging some deals. We normally go every year, but didn’t have anything we wanted this year. That is until my husband found something on line at 11:30 that ended at noon! Argh…nothing like rushing to try to get there in time. Thankfully we made it…never did Black Friday like that before!
