We have a surprise snow day – a day I had packed full of appointments and had taken off from work. Instead of documenting my daughter’s first dentist visit, I’m writing.
Listening….to the television. My husband is off today (hi, snow!) and is watching Stranger Things. My son is downstairs watching something on Disney Junior. My daughter is napping.
Hoping….for naps all around this afternoon. We all woke up early. My husband and I woke to a barrage of texts and phone calls calling off school and daycare. My son woke at 5:30 to put together his Lego Advent sets and my daughter woke by 6 because she could hear the commotion. It was way too early for everyone.
Drinking….a lot of water. I cut a lot of caffeine out of my diet a few weeks ago and I’ve limited myself to one soda a day. Since this snow was not what I had anticipated, I only water today.
Watching….the snow. Do you sense a theme? Seriously, the forecast when I went to bed was calling for 1-3 inches to start in the afternoon. When I woke, it was already snowing and one forecast I saw was 5-10 inches. (Now I think it’s around 4-6 inches.) I had contemplated going to the store before 7 because we are out of some groceries, but we’ll figure it out.
Diffusing…Christmas Spirit! I’ve had comments from my husband and son that it smells good in our house. This is one of my favorite blends (and I’ve only tried a couple of blends. I tend to stick with the citrus scents and peppermint.)
Planning…all the things! We have two Christmas parties to attend tomorrow (if the babysitter can get to us – she goes to school in another county), I’ve had to reschedule the dentist and a photo session, and I have a few crafty things I want to work on this weekend. We’ll see if I can get some downtime to work on those.
Purging….the garage! As we started decorating for Christmas, my husband and I have been emptying bins in our garage. There’s a large pile that needs to go to a donation center, a pile of coats to go to the church, and a pile that has already been taken to the animal shelter (they take old sheets, blankets and we had cat toys and beds.) It’s nice to be purging so much, since I know we’ll be inundated with things in a few weeks.
How is your December going?
I am loving the snow. Was concerned about ferrying from Maggie Valley to Arden tomorrow but my class has been cancelled. I’m just flooding Instagram with snow photos. š
