Currently {January 2020}
I hope you’ve made it through the almost two weeks since the new year began, mostly unscathed! Here in North Carolina, we’re dealing with the wild temps (I mean, almost 70 in January? Why?) and a decent amount of rain. I’m holding out for one good snow, and then I’ll gladly welcome spring.
So what are we up to right now? Well, since you asked…I’m currently:
Reading – a few finance/budgeting books. I’m working on a (mostly) no-spend month and just trying to reign things in since the holidays. January tends to be tough for me budget-wise, seeing that I get paid in mid-December and then again at the end of January. (If you aren’t using Kindle Unlimited, I would highly encourage you to try it out – especially in the winter months when you may not be getting out more! I have 10 books borrowed right now and I love it so much.)
Watching – Fuller House, The Bachelor and I can’t wait for Grey’s Anatomy to come back in a couple of weeks. Can’t. Wait. We’ve also been watching a lot of football on the weekends! If you’d asked me 5 years ago if we would be a football-watching family, I would have been very doubtful. I don’t really have a favorite team, but we enjoy watching games lately.
Planning – I want to get the kids back to New York this year – spring or summer. And I really want to plan a summer vacation since we didn’t really do that last year (we did a couple of small trips, but nothing more than two or three days as a family.) My dad has been pretty sick, and we have some weekends planned with him too.
We recently visited my dad in Roanoke, which is where the above photo was taken. We also got up close and personal with the Roanoke Star!
Working…OUT! I’ve been working out a lot lately. I’m finally finding my groove again. Who knew that groove would be at 5:30 a.m.? During the week, I actually prefer to get my workouts out of the way early in the morning before the craziness sets in.
Eating – a little more healthy than I was last month, for sure. I’ve tried a few new recipes I hope to share on the blog soon. I’ve really been taking advantage of our slow cooker, and I’m hoping to come up with a month of slow cooker ideas in March. My husband will be traveling about 3 weeks that month and I need to stay focused, organized and fed. 🙂
Writing – an e-book! This has been a goal of mine for a few years, and I finally have a couple of concrete ideas and may even have something out in the next month. Stay tuned!
Purged – so much that you can now see my desk. I committed to clearing out space in our downstairs room, and I think we’re all loving it. We got a Harry Potter 4-D puzzle for Christmas, and are putting it together on a table in this bonus space, my son can play the Nintendo Switch easily down there, and I can finally work in peace (if I choose. As of this writing, I’m still sitting at our dining room table.)
