Currently: July 2018
Ah, summer. We wish for so long for summer to get here, and when it finally arrives it passes quickly. For real. How is July pretty much almost over?
Listening…to Maroon 5, Jason Mraz and a new Matt Nathanson song! True story: I originally hoped I could convince my husband to name our son Nathan Matthew (basically the reverse of Matt Nathanson), but I knew he wouldn’t go for it.
Catching up…on sleep as much as possible. In June, we spent 9 days driving up the east coast, into Canada, and back to North Carolina. Two weeks ago I spent a couple of days in Raleigh and then last week my son spent the week with grandparents, but our daughter ended up thrown completely off with sleep because she wasn’t feeling well. It was like having a newborn all over again.
Planning…my son’s birthday party! We’re less than six weeks out from him turning 7, and he definitely wants a Pokemon party. So I need to get creative since there aren’t any great Pokemon decorations in stores (I’ll definitely be buying some things online.) My boy is Pokemon crazy, for sure. (Have you seen my Pokemon food roundup? I’ll definitely be making something fun for the party.)
Running…again! I signed up for a half marathon in September, and I’m hoping I can stick with training this time! I’ve been running daily now for a couple of weeks, and I run a longer run on the weekends. I’m really, really hoping I can stay motivated.
Purging…all the things. Wee Trade (a large children’s consignment sale) is coming up in a few very short weeks. I’ve been pretty good about getting rid of clothes, but the toys are another story. I wish we could just get rid of it all and start from scratch. Definitely trying not to make the same mistakes with my daughter.
Visiting…Biltmore! Chihuly at Biltmore is happening through early October, and my husband is part of a group that went last weekend and I tagged along. I’m so glad we went! We got a babysitter for our daughter, and spent more than 4 hours on the estate grounds. I got a little sunburned (I was not anticipating all of the sun!) but it went away quickly. I’ll share one photo and hopefully I’ll have more to post in the coming days!
Planning…My husband’s birthday weekend! He’s decided to forego a party this year, and we’re going to try to take a short trip (a day trip? One night out of town? Not sure.) For now I’m monitoring the weather forecast and hoping all works out well.
How is your July treating you?
