What a wild month this is turning out to be! Hurricane Florence has wreaked havoc on my state, but we’re fortunate that our area wasn’t hit as hard. (We’ve still had some issues – flooding in areas of Western NC, but all in all, we’re lucky.)

Watching…a lot of kid shows. My toddler is obsessed with Baby Genius and LeapFrog DVDs we have, and if she has control, then she’s asking us to switch out the shows. My son has been into Pokemon (of course), as well as old episodes of He-Man!

ReadingStretched Too Thin! I actually finished the audio book recently, but I want to go back through and do some of the exercises Jessica Turner mentions at the end of a few chapters. You guys. If you are a mom – especially a working mom – you need this book. This book talks about how to deal with the guilt we feel when we’re being pulled in all directions. There are parenting tips, but also tips on dealing with other relationships – such as with your spouse, your kids and your friends. I immediately started scheduling time with friends I hadn’t seen in years when I came upon a chapter about friendships.

Making…pesto. I have made two batches (15 cubes) of pesto this weekend, and I probably have enough basil to make three or four more batches. I’m really excited about all of the pesto in my life!

Thinking about…National Coffee Day! It’s coming up next week (September 29) and thanks to Dunkin’ Donuts, I have a quick giveaway for a gift card! (You’ll receive the gift card via email, if you are the selected winner. So you should have this just in time!) On September 29 – National Coffee Day – with the purchase of any beverage at Dunkin’ Donuts, you get a FREE beverage of same or equal value. All. Day. Long.

Anticipating…my half marathon this weekend! My race is in Charlotte, and there’s a chance it can change since NC is so flooded. I am waiting to hear if things change, or if I’ll actually be taking part in my first half since my daughter was born almost 2 1/2 years ago! Think fast and safe thoughts for me, y’all.

Taking in…downtown Asheville. We were downtown this past weekend (and will be again this coming weekend) for a concert, and I caught the tail-end of the sunsetting between the Flat Iron building and Haywood Park Hotel. The sunset did not disappoint (and neither did the people-watching.) I really love my city! I just wish it was a tad more affordable. šŸ˜‰

  1. You’ve been staying busy and productive!

I recently got the invite to visit a friend who lives in Zirconia, which I understand isn’t too far from Asheville. I am going to do my level best to head up there next month….but it’s a trip I may have to put off since my old car – with no heat or ac and a check engine light – is again my daily driver until I find the right car for me. I was looking at the area on the map, and saw that it’s also near a place called Bat Cave…..and Bat Cave is a place I may have to seriously work towards moving one of these days!

Glad Florence didn’t do too much damage in your area, and I hope you get to participate in your half marathon!
