day of sea kayaking

The day after visiting Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head, we decided to relax. Or sea kayak. I don’t know if my brother and I are cut out to relax if there’s stuff to see and do right in front of us. So we rented a kayak. We also rented an umbrella and chairs (that someone else set up, and provided ice buckets to keep our drinks cool.)

Jason and I went out first, and then we let mom try her hand at kayaking (with Jason) until I got back into the water. Oh, and my brother has a pretty fantastic underwater camera that we used a lot – his pictures are the ones that look like we took a camera in the water. Unless you have a waterproof camera, I don’t recommend taking a camera along for the kayak ride (or snorkeling for that matter.) Just saying.

(This photo was actually taken when I was out running – but I shot it the day we did the kayaking, so I’m including it in this group of pictures!)

That afternoon, we found ourselves in Waikiki to watch a parade celebrating a prince. The Army Band was in the parade, so we wanted to see Jason’s friends and bandmates. Photos of that (and the rest of our evening) to come…
