Before we even painted the nursery, I knew we’d need something to decorate the walls with. A tree decal would have been fun, but I also know a lot of people are going the tree route. Our friend painted two canvas pieces for us that we’re using in one corner (and they involve a tree and birds, so the tree thing was kind of covered.) I saw some decals on zulily.com one day and before I could get Kenny’s approval on them, they were sold out. I knew then that I really wanted to have alphabet decals in the room – but as for which ones, I had no clue.

My mom went on a buying frenzy one morning on Amazon, and came up with several of the accessories for our room, including the decals. (Those decals are similar to what we have – we just don’t have as many of the lowercase letters duplicated.)

We’ve had the decals for about a month, and this weekend I finally hung them up. (The best part is that they really are removable and I could reposition them as I went along.)

Somehow, Kenny missed me carrying around the level (that’s almost as long as I am tall) and getting the step stool out of the hall closet so I could tackle this project. (I’m sneaky like that. Wait until he’s engrossed in a show on Hulu, and I can get a few things done without him breathing down my back about how I’m going to fall, etc.)

I loveeee them. They took about an hour to hang, and I think they came out pretty great. (Also, those stuffed animals/blow-up monkey you see in the crib? Yeah, those will be removed when baby goes into the crib. Right now, we’re using them to deter Chloe from getting in there. And it’s working.)

They are kind of high, but I think they actually work when you’re in the room – and this gives me options of doing other things with the wall(s). We have at least one picture frame to hang up – away from the crib – and the canvas pieces. We also have some letters left over that will spell out McLittle’s real name – once he arrives, of course.

  1. Really cute, Mamma Jaime!! Your days are getting short, before you know McLittle will be in your arms,,,,Love you lots!

  2. You probably love Chloe too much to do this, but…if you need to, they make pads you can put into the crib that will shock the cats into NEVER going in there again. We borrowed one with Nate, and only had to use it once šŸ™‚

  3. Not sure I can shock my cat. šŸ™‚ BUT, they also make nets that go over the crib that will keep pets from jumping in. I’m considering that. I don’t worry about nighttime, as we can close the door. And, really, we just don’t know how she’ll react to the baby since she runs and hides from kids (of all ages, including infants) now.

  4. Jaime, the nursery look amazing!! I love the decals! We have some monkey ones to put up in Ruffin’s room, but they are still sitting in his closet… boo, Mommy.
