Deserving of a nap

I took a nap late this afternoon. I felt I deserved it. I managed to take care of SO much all before 1 p.m.

I started running a little bit longer distances today. Long is 5 miles or more, when training for a half marathon šŸ™‚ I ran 6 this morning. And I walked two more miles with the dogs.

I then mowed my mom’s lawn, as well as ours. That took three hours. After mowing the really tall lawns last weekend, I mowed them down today so they’d be more manageable for at least a week.

And wouldn’t you know, it started raining an hour after I finished mowing? I had to cram them both in today because we have about 100% chance of thunderstorms tomorrow. North Carolina has been in a drought for about 2 or 3 years. They finally declared on Thursday that we are no longer in a drought. Then Madison County (where Mars Hill College is) was flooded on Friday. Funny how those things happen.

While we’re on the topic of lawns….we finally returned our mower today. Got all of the money back. Here’s a tip. If you ever buy a mower – and have to return it – be sure you empty the oil and the gas upon returning it. We were asked four separate times, “is there gas in the mower?” We knew from our visit LAST Saturday that we had to empty the stupid thing. So we’re kind of mowerless now. I used my mom’s new mower today, and she’s giving us her old one. I need to take it to a repair guy, get it fixed and it’s ours….and it shouldn’t cost us $185 only to break 3 hours later.

After returning the mower, we did grocery shopping. Three stores in about two hours. I really was sick of shopping by the time it was all over. I promptly laid down on the couch when we got home and slept for an hour.

The dogs spent most of today at my house. Oliver spent about 6 hours outside, while Sophie spent about 4 out there. They’re now at my mom’s house, waiting out the rain. They just couldn’t settle down at our place.

So, the lawns are mowed, the sewer drainage lid is intact, and the cable still works. I’d call that a successful day.
