DIY Bath Salt Scrub for Gifts
The following is a collaboration with Terminix. While I have been compensated for this post, all opinions are my own.
About a month ago, my husband and I were in a restaurant for a friend’s birthday. The restaurant had a salt scrub in their restrooms you could use and my husband loved it. He came home and made his own bowl of a scrub, using a few ingredients we had around the house (including a fresh lime – I think he could have skipped the fresh lime and used my essential oils.) I thought he was a little strange trying this, but fast forward a month and the weather is changing, leaving my hands extremely dry. I tried the scrub – and he is onto something!
The scrub is simple, and I think it would make a fantastic teacher or co-worker gift this holiday season. Make a large batch, package it in half pint jars and decorate the jar. Keep them on hand (no pun intended) for quick gifts! These would also make great hostess gifts! We are fortunate to have several friends who know how to throw a holiday party, and this would make a great gift.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Coconut oil
3/4 cup Sea salt
Lemon or lime essential oil
Directions:
In a small bowl, mix the sea salt and coconut oil together. Once mixed, transfer half into a half pint jar. Add a few drops of essential oil. Stir. Add remaining salt and oil mixture, and add a few more drops of essential oil. Mix again.
Keep the jar at a sink or near your bathtub to use often. We keep a baby spoon that we’re no longer using with the bowl to scoop a little amount each time. I have some wooden spoons I purchased a while ago that I am planning to give when I gift the jars.
And be sure to decorate the jar before you place the scrub in them! I simply tied a ribbon around one of the jar lids, but the second one I went a little further with washi tape. (I really, really love washi!) You can find so many great holiday decorations right now that the ideas for decorating the jars are endless.
Are you planning out holiday gifts yet?
Omg this sounds wonderful! And such a great holiday gift! I’m defiantly going to make this!
I love making my own skin care products. Make a homemade salt scrub would be a perfect stocking stuffer this holiday season!
Bite your tongue for already bringing up holiday gifts, but this scrub sounds perfect and I bet it smells amazing. Also, how nice is a restaurant that provides a hand scrub in their restrooms? Sweet!
I thought it was really interesting that the restaurant had it! (I never blogged about it, but I wish the restaurant had better customer service. I think they put all of their efforts into fancy hand scrub.)
Love how simple this recipe is and how few ingredients it takes to make! I love each of the individual ingredients and especially love that it has both coconut oil and lime essential oil. I agree it would make a great gift and like most hand-made gifts, would be very appreciated. It is definitely a scrub I would enjoy using too. Thanks for sharing this easy to make bath salt scrub with us all!
That is a lovely gift idea. I love getting bath salts/scrubs, but I have never tried making them before. I would love to start this year, though.
I have always wanted to make one of these. Maybe now that I know it’s so easy I’ll give it a try!
It’s also a perfect stocking stuffer/holiday gift. But GAH! The holidays – how can they be so close?
Now this would make for a really sweet holiday gift. Making a bunch for holiday goodie bags might be a good idea too.
I love making my own bath salts. The last time I made a sugar scrub, it smelled so good I just wanted to eat it! Haha. Anyway, I do agree DIY bath salts are great gifts. I will include these in my DIY Christmas gift list.
Always love bath salts!! This looks like the perfect gift or holidays.
I love that you can make these right at home without spending a lot of money. These would make great teacher gifts for my sons’ teachers.
with cold and harsh Illinois winters I can think of many who would welcome a gift like this thanks for sharing
