My daughter is a big fan of unicorns. And she loves reading. She has so many bookmarks in her room, so this unicorn bookmark will fit in great with all of her page-saving tools. A few years ago, she had a unicorn birthday party and I think this craft would have been fun for all of the kids to do.

With this tutorial, you can create a magical unicorn bookmark that is fun and easy to make! Use colorful cardstock, glitter, markers, and a touch of imagination. kids can design their very own unicorn complete with a sparkly horn and the flowing rainbow mane. Perfect for encouraging reading and creativity, this DIY unicorn bookmark makes a great rainy-day activity or party favor.

You can let kids cut the pieces themselves (great for the ones learning to use scissors), or you can cut the pieces out yourself and let them do the drawing and gluing. I think this is a good craft for most ages – and all unicorn lovers.

How to Make a Unicorn Bookmark

Step 1: Be sure to sign up above to receive the templates. Then select 6 or 7 colors of paper for the rainbow – the bottom part of the bookmark – and a few more different colored paper for the unicorn pattern. Trace the template patterns (included in the download) on your different papers and cut them out with scissors.

Step 2: Attach the inner ear cutouts on the outer ear cutouts. Use sharpies or a good pen to add the different patterns (nose, mouth) on the mane cutout. Attach the lens shaped cutout (lower part of the face) on the bottom part of the head cutout.

Step 3: Using glue, attach the horn cutout on the top middle part of the head cutout and attach the ear patterns on both sides of the horn.

Step 4: Place and attach the mane pattern on the top side of the head, keeping the top part of the mane to the front side of the head’s top and the bottom slightly side to the backside.

Step 5: Use sharpie or pen to draw the eyes of the paper unicorn head.

Step 6: Use the sharpie or pen to draw the nose and mouth as well.

Step 7: Cut out a small piece of paper to attach the rainbow strip cutouts. Start attaching the strips on the small piece of paper from a side (left or right).

Step 8: Attach all the strips on the small slip of paper one by one.

Step 9: Attach the closed end of the strips on the bottom-backside of the unicorn head. Now your unicorn bookmark is ready to hold your spot in your favorite book!
