dog beds – my latest project
Since Oliver and Sophie are taking up residence with my husband for a week (while I’m in Hawaii with my mom), I thought they needed proper dog beds at our house. And rather than buy beds (because that’s too easy, yet can be very expensive), I decided to make beds for them!
My mom made beds for the dogs and they’re so nice-looking, but she has more than 30 years of sewing experience under her belt. The beds she made have zippers to hold the foam in (so she can wash them, obviously), and I want to make a bed without a zipper because…well, because I don’t know how to sew a zipper into a project.
I found this pattern, which looks easy enough.
I found this fabric (I think for Sophie’s bed):

And this for Oliver’s bed:

I have a promo code for fabric.com that will get me 20% off, plus free shipping. I actually just bought a bunch of Amy Butler fabrics about two weeks ago, but I have other plans for that fabric.
I’ll keep my fine blog readers updated on how this project goes. I have roughly a month to get this completed so the dogs have a comfortable place to sleep (when they aren’t hogging the bed…I’m sure my husband will let them sleep with him. I just don’t think he realizes how much room they’ll take up!)
And can I just add that I originally thought I had six weeks, but when I looked at the calendar, I have less than a month??? I leave for Hawaii in a month, people. Wow.
i love it, i’m constantly making stuff for my dog! post pictures when you’re done!!
Hey, Jaime! I’ll help you sew in a zipper if you want to get together! Its not nearly as hard as it seems. š
