Easy slow cooker whole chicken recipe

This post may include affiliate links and I may earn commission if you make a purchase through these links.

We’ve been relying on a new recipe lately. I had seen some variations on Pinterest, and most call for roasting the chicken even more in the oven to get a crispier skin. I don’t do that. I don’t eat the skin on chicken and I don’t quite have time. I’m lucky if I can get the chicken out of the slow cooker without falling apart. (It’s SUPER tender.)

Super easy, perfect slow cooker chicken - with just 3 ingredients!

Ingredients:

1 whole chicken
Spices of your choosing. I really like this Weber’s seasoning I found at Sam’s Club a couple years ago. We use it often
4 lemons

Rub the chicken with the spices.

Slice the lemons. Put a few slices on the bottom of the slow cooker, and then cover your chicken in lemon slices. I usually stuff the chicken with 2-4 slices.

slow-cooker-chicken-2

Cook on low for 8 hours.

slow-cooker-chicken-3

Done. See how easy that is? It takes only a few minutes to prep either at night or in the morning, and it’s super simple and tasty. My son is picky about chicken, and he’ll eat this.

What is your go-to slow cooker recipe? And is it fast to prep? I’m finding that I am relying more and more on my slow cooker, and the more I can do the night before, the better for everyone.

Looks great! Whenever I have cooked a whole chicken in my crockpot it all falls apart and the bones mix in with the meat, I think I am cooking it too long.

I love Weber spices and I love how you placed lemons all over the chicken. I’ve also never made a whole chicken in my slow cooker. Seems easy enough.

Whole chicken is one of the most budget friendly foods in my house. I just can’t make a whole one in the crockpot though. It’s a texture thing for me. I slow roast it in the oven. We’ll eat it like that for the first meal, then separate bones and skin. I’ll boil the bones and skin for chicken stock. We use the meat to either make homemade chicken noodle soup (making our own noodles) or chicken and dumplings.
