There are only three weeks left in our eat-in challenge, and this weekend has been more fun than challenging!
My husband and I set out to grocery shop yesterday right around lunchtime. We ate lunch at home, so we wouldn’t be tempted to buy junk at the stores or eat at Chick-fil-A (that thought did cross my mind, though…) I realized today that not only did we get overcharged on apples (by about 70 cents a pound), but we also were overcharged on most of our produce. That may be my last trip to Amazing Savings. We did the rest of our shopping at Aldi and Wal-Mart and finished the trip spending about $80. And $20 was on chicken – we’re eating a LOT of chicken this week, and have a ton that we froze for next week.
Today I broke out the crock pot, since the husband keeps forgetting we have one. I did a search the other night for recipes, specifically Weight Watcher recipes. I found this one for a lemon garlic chicken (EIGHT servings!) and I worked on it this morning. I’ll let you know later how it turns out.
Ten days into our challenge, and we’ve already saved $150. (That’s between me and my husband – we alternate weeks of shopping.) At this rate, I may have to eat in all of February too!
Update from dinner: The new recipe was a success!! The downfall? It makes 8 servings. We’re going to be eating it a LOT this week!
