Our annual corn maze visit
Two weeks ago, we decided to fit all fall things into our weekend. The corn maze near our neighborhood opened that week, and I think we were some of the first people to walk through the whole maze (just based on the path and the clear lack of use.) We always try to visit early in the season so we can enjoy the maze before stalks are knocked down. We weren’t quite anticipating the heat (because it’s supposed to be fall, but summer refused to leave – until yesterday.)
We’ve visited Eliada corn maze for YEARS. Each year they try to add something. Last year they added a bounce pad, and this year they aren’t charging extra for it! Smart on their part, I think. It was such a hassle to purchase tickets for that last year. This year the kids are limited to the amount of time for each turn – but if it’s not crazy busy, they can take multiple turns.
We went through the longest maze first. They have 4 mazes – two are short storybook mazes. My son prefers to take charge, but he quickly learned that daddy needed to be our leader.
Oh and while the boys ran ahead, I wore the baby.
(When the boy was tiny – maybe 7 or 8 weeks old – we took him and I wore him in the Moby wrap.)
The box filled with corn is now covered (again – smart!) and our boy didn’t play in it as long as he has in years past. Also different this year is the height of the rope web – it’s not high at all, and was kind of a bummer. My boy tried climbing on it, but it was more of a walk across the rope.
They have tractor rides, but we didn’t do those this visit. They have a hay maze which is fun for kids. My boy turned it into a race with his dad.
We tend to go multiple times to the corn maze in one season. This one will close a week before Halloween, so I’m not sure if or when we’ll get out there again. We’re pretty planned out for the next 5 or 6 weekends. It was such a great time – locals, you really need to check it out!
Do you visit a corn maze in your area?
This looks so fun! I can’t believe I’m saying this but…I’ve never been to a corn maze! There are tons around me, but for some reason I never went as a kid…or a teenager…or in college…I’ve been thinking about fixing that this year and dragging my fiance to one š
