eye hemorrhages and weird stuff

There were a couple of things that made for good blog posts this week, and I never got around to them. Until now.

Remember how I mentioned I took a fall last week? Well on Monday, I had a routine eye exam and my eye doctor kept checking one of my eyes. She finally told me (after taking extensive photos and looking at it again) that I had a hemorrhage in the back of my eye. Um. Yeah. She knew I’d had a cold last week, and then asked if I had hit my head. I told her that I did fall one day, and then everything started to fall into place.

On Friday, I was seeing spots (which were probably protein specs that were knocked loose and I happened to see.) Saturday night, I was seeing flashes of light, but I attributed it to being tired. After all, I did stay up til all hours sewing.

Either way, the side of my head that hit my phone and sunglasses (but not pavement!) is the side the hemorrhage is on. I saw the pictures and everything. I have to go back in 3 more weeks to get more pictures, and make sure it’s healing on it’s own. I’m actually going to ask her at the next visit if I can get a copy of the pictures!

So let’s fast forward to Wednesday. I left work a few minutes late, so I didn’t walk with the masses to our parking lot. Our parking lot happens to be situated between a few halfway houses, the Salvation Army and around the corner from the rescue mission (homeless shelter.) When I got to the parking lot, this man tried to approach me. I ignored him the first time, and then he asked if I could help. I asked with what, and he said he needed a blanket or something (it was pretty chilly.) He then said, “I’m homeless and I just got out of prison a week and a half ago.”

Um. That is NOT something you say to a female when she’s trying to get to her car by herself.

He said the Salvation Army had turned him away. And I know that a lot of people will only get turned away if they’ve been drinking. Either way, I told him I was sorry, but I was unable to help him. I didn’t have any cash or a blanket. He then asked if maybe I could give him a ride.

Again, no. I mean, seriously? Where was I going to take him? Home to meet my husband?

This seemed to be the week that everyone I worked with didn’t realize my job, and assumed I was tech support. Next week is going to be better. I feel it.

Anything weird happen to you this week?
