falling into place

Many things are falling into place right now. The baby’s room is going to be painted at some point this week, and that’s all because Kenny can focus on his grad school work and not worry about being out of town next week. (Granted, that little mishap only occurred because his training was cut, and we had to pay a boatload to change a plane ticket around…but other than that, it worked out great.) His final exam was scheduled at a time he was supposed to be out of town, and his next class was also supposed to start at that time. This week, he’s had time to work ahead. He’s also had time to help more around the house (I don’t have to cook for the next three days!!) and our lawn was mowed today. Simple things.

If the baby came this week, we’d be taken care of. That’s a good feeling. Our garage is filling up with the necessities – crib, car seats, etc. – and we’re SO. LUCKY. to have great family and friends who want to help make sure McLittle is well taken care of when he arrives. And comfortable. Oh, and not to mention well-dressed. His closet is already overflowing with great clothes.

After last week’s tree mishap, the rental company sent someone out who cut the tree out of the garden and off the fence – and was careful to not squash the plants any more than they already were. I have to replace a few cages, and possibly transplant a few things, but some of the vegetables were at least given a second chance to grow this summer. (The insurance adjuster still hasn’t contacted me, which I find interesting, but I may just call and cancel the claim now. We can get the fence fixed – and we don’t have to pay a tree company to get the tree off our property.)

Over the weekend, a motor on a part for our furnace started to go out. The only problem it caused was this humming sound every six seconds. Enough to annoy me. But then it rained, and it was cool enough to turn it off (and shut down the a/c) and open the windows. Inconvenient for some, but in the end it was fine. The part was under warranty, and someone came out and replaced it today. Problem solved.

I have this whole week (after work) free. And no appointments scheduled during the work day. I haven’t had a week like this in a long time. Next week is a different ballgame, but I’m ready. I’m pretty sure I can handle anything after last week!
