It’s still early in the new year, and I know a lot of people are committing to losing weight (at least for the first 3 months of the year. We’ll see how long everyone lasts at the gym come March and April.) Just because I’m pregnant, doesn’t mean I can’t workout. And unlike last time, I feel like I blew up and I needed new workout clothes asap.
When I was pregnant 5 years ago, I didn’t even realize there were maternity workout clothes. And this pregnancy, I’m SO thankful for all of the maternity yoga pants. I would wear them 24/7, if my boss would allow me to wear them in the office.
So, pregnant ladies out there. I have two words for you. Old Navy.
You aren’t going to wear the clothes for years to come (well, generally speaking.) There’s no need to spend huge amounts of money on workout clothes for this brief time in your life, however you do want something that is comfortable.
Enter the yoga pants. And how about the compression shorts? I was a little apprehensive about the shorts, but after I received a pair for Christmas, I am ordering a second pair. (At $10 for one pair of shorts, I can’t go wrong – I’m just not sure how long that price will last.) The roll-panel yoga pants are awesome from the beginning of your regular pants or shorts not feeling comfortable until the bitter end. I suspect I’ll be wearing these for weeks after the baby is born. The full-panel boot-cut yoga pants are great too, but I preferred the roll-panel earlier on.
The one item I wasn’t super excited about initially was the keyhole tank. Now I don’t mind it. I love the regular tanks, but they sadly don’t have my size at the moment. And the long-sleeve running tee? Amazing.
I wear a lot of GapFit clothes, when I’m my regular size. I can still wear some of my GapFit tanks. Paired with the Old Navy maternity yoga pants, and they’re pretty amazing. I don’t feel super self-conscious, either.
My sports bras are still acceptable, and I bought new running shoes a few weeks before I found out we were expecting. (I wear Asics. I love them and I know I’ll be able to wear them for a while after baby arrives, since I haven’t put much mileage on them since I only wear them for workouts.)
Even if you aren’t expecting, what’s your favorite workout clothing brand?
