feeling valuable and thankful for flexibility

This week I’m thankful for my job and the flexibility I have with my schedule. I’ve been through more meetings than I care to remember this week, and we’ve come out with so many great ideas and plans to make things happen. I’ve had a few really long days, but I haven’t minded them.

On Tuesday, Vice President Biden was in town and I got to put a lot of my skills to work on our website. I felt pretty useful. On Wednesday, I was in hours of meetings. I came out with 8 pages of notes and lists. Lists of things I need to do. Lots of ideas.

I was so motivated that I worked on the website last night – and I did that again tonight. My boss is great because I’ll be able to count a lot of that time towards hours tomorrow, so I can work from home. Daycare is closed for a couple of days, so I’ll be juggling work and a 13-month-old.

On one hand, I’m exhausted from all of the meetings this week. On the other hand, it’s so wonderful to feel like I have a bigger purpose. My efforts are being recognized. I’m learning a lot and I have been given some creative freedom.

I’m excited. And hoping that we can keep this up for a while.
