I love movies. However, I can be particular about the genre of movie I watch. (Truth: I used to have a chick flick club. We got together about once a month to watch – what else? – a chick flick at a movie theatre.) Once my son was born, I had less time to go to the movie theatre, so I have to rely on recommendations for movies I can rent or buy to watch at home.
My friends are good places to start when looking for movies. And if there’s a book-turned-movie, I like to read the book first before the movie. (Usually the book is better.)
Now there’s a website that can make movie recommendations for you! FunkyFlick.com recommends new movies based on your interests in other movies or books – or even WIkipedia subjects. If you like the movie “Frozen” (a movie that I STILL have not seen), you can type in the name of that movie or click on the movie from the list, if it’s appearing for you, and FunnyFlick will suggest related movies that you might enjoy.
I tried out “The Lion King” and the site pulled up several Disney films I hadn’t seen (or that I’ve haven’t watched in quite some time.) This site is going to open my whole world to so many new chick flicks!
I imagine it’ll be fun to find new kids movies for my son too. I’ve already sent the site to my husband. It’ll save him some of the hassle of scrolling through the Netflix recommendations.
