fitness Friday (the one where I sign up for things)
I must have been feeling pretty good about myself this week, because as this work week is coming to a close, I’m signed up for multiple races – and the baby is signed up for something somewhat athletic – swim lessons!
First, though, let me tell you about my workouts this week. I’ve made it to the gym once since last Saturday’s spin class. I went after work today for water aerobics. I used the middle “weights” and I’m not sure what level the class was (it didn’t say on the schedule.) Four hours later, my arms and abs are so sore. Last night, I did the 30-day shred workout (level 2) and didn’t hurt this much (I was mildly sore this morning, but water aerobics really did a number on me.)
And tomorrow we’re going to try to take another spin class.
I’ve been contemplating a 5k at my dad’s, when we visit him in July. Before I did that one, though, I had thought I should get another 5k in. They’re short, and it’s been years since I’ve done a short race. Today was the last day to get a discounted race on our Chamber of Commerce’s race – the Chamber Challenge. I swore years ago I would never do it again because it is SO hard and SO hot! And at the last minute, I got the go-ahead to form a team and have the company sponsor us (so it’s free for me!)
It’s in two weeks.
Tonight I signed up for the Celebration Run 5k race in Jacksonville, Florida. That’s July 4.
I even found myself googling races in New York when we’re visiting in June, but didn’t find anything for that Saturday. (There’s a race in my area every weekend – no, really, every weekend! Obviously where I’m headed is not a running mecca.)
After water aerobics today, I signed the little guy up for four weeks of swim lessons. If we like them, we may go for the July lessons.
There you have it! Two 5ks and swim lessons. And a tentative half marathon (or two!) that I haven’t really talked about.
What have you surprised yourself with lately?
Wow, even just reading about all your running and 5ks and marathons is making me feel tired…and slightly lazy, lol!
which half-marathons? I hope the ACT and NWM DC are in the cards!
AC-T is one and I’m considering Bethel. NWM DC is on my radar, if they’d ever release any info (though, from what I’ve read, they haven’t officially gotten the permits for the DC race. I need info!!!)
