Friday 5 – back to school! #Friday5
I’m linking up for Friday 5 again. A few random thoughts from this week….
1. I have no business, I guess, talking about back to school time since my son is still in daycare, and we don’t have school-aged kids (technically.) HOWEVER, my husband works in schools. And today he officially had to go back to work – there was sadness all around.
2. And since I work at a university now, it really is back to school time. The freshman move in today (and I’m going to help them move their stuff in!) I’m overly excited for this, and maybe I shouldn’t be. I just love having the students on campus. (And if some of my colleagues come across this, I’m sure they’ll think I’m nuts. And that’s ok.)
3. My running has been off lately. I think I haven’t done a good job with it because of the heat at lunch – and one week, I was just sick and couldn’t run well. I wish I could get my groove back. I went for a run yesterday and had a blast – and a faster time than recent runs. Maybe that’s a sign of what’s to come?
4. Our toddler has been totally sweet and 95% better behaved this week than the previous couple of weeks. I don’t know what happened, but I like it. And I’ll hold onto the sweetness for as long as possible.
5. This is kind of random, but have you bought into any of the subscription boxes you have seen on blogs, Instagram or Facebook? That’s where I see the most. I decided in July to try Julep (nail polish and/or makeup/skin care items.) After trying three of the nail colors so far, I’m sold. I thought I was going to cancel my subscription, but now I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next. (I’m not even linking to them, so this definitely isn’t sponsored. I just happened to look at my nails and remembered that I really love what I got!) I’ll post a full review one day – complete with photos of what I’ve received so far.
Some of these photos are on Instagram. Are you on Instagram? (If so, let’s definitely be friends!) Also, don’t miss out on my posts! Subscribe to LoveJaime by Email
What a weekly wrapup. Your son is so handsome and what a great thing to do help getting the new freshmen situated where they need to be. I am sure that’s a big job!
I’ve been wanting to do one of those subscription boxes, but I can’t decide which one I want the most! LOL (LOVE the pic of your little one with the popsicle š )
I almost signed up for a Citrus Lane box but then I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the investment. I do plan on trying Little Passports if it’s still around when my youngest is ready.
Love the bubble beard! So cute! Even though your son isn’t in school yet both you and your husbands jobs definitely make back to school time a big deal. I love that you enjoy your job so much! Yea for better behavior, maybe he just wasn’t feeling good… and really they do go through phases, if you are just consistent and keep being an great mama he will get through those rough times.
Thanks so much for linking up!
We are registering my oldest for his senior year today and he is begging me not to cry in front of everyone. It is back to school time for many of us and I get sad every year at this time the huge reminder that my kids are growing up and will not be around me forever.
Yep school is right around the corner for us. We just bought school supplies and oh my goodness… I am broke now!
I worked at a university as an advisor for four years. What a challenge that was … š It was fun though. Colleges are exciting, always something going on!
that cocktail sure look yummy! I will have to follow along on IG
Totally love that toddler is mushing up! Enjoy it!
Cheers to the weekend
School starts for us on the 26th. Should be an interesting week.
Such cute pictures! I just got my first Julep box and love it, too. I love trying subscription boxes but they add up way too fast!
Aw cute photos and yep school begins in a few days for us.
That’s great that you found a subscription box you like. I haven’t tried Julep before but really have heard fabulous things about them!
Poor hubs! I can’t believe it’s time to head back to school. Crazy! Tell Kenny good luck, even though he won’t need it. Also, I am totally out of my running groove as well. I think my issue is my shoes. I need new running shoes so badly. Anyway, great weekly wrap-up.
what a great week you had! We to have subscription boxes and really enjoy doing them as a family:) I must say your little one to way to cute!
My kids are now adults and I worked for a school district for over 20 years but I am retired now. However, I still feel the whole back to school “thing” and I get in the spirit. I think it is cool that you are helping freshmen move in. What an exciting time for them and I am sure it is a real feel good experience.
I haven’t bought into any of the subscription boxes either. I keep seeing ones I might want, but haven’t bit the bullet.
That popsicle picture is precious. š I love that you’re excited about the freshman coming to campus. I don’t think you’re crazy, that’s the kind of person I want working at the school where my kids go. š
Oh the joys of heading back to school. My 6 year old starts on Tuesday and I start back on the 25th. I am really not looking forward to going back myself. Pictures of your nails please….lol
No I LOVE those boxes!! We have tried out several boxes- we love the craft boxes most!
Number 4 is the best! It’s always after you’re at your wits end that they decide to go back to being the most charming & well behaved child.
Wow both you and your husband work in schools, that’s awesome! I love Julep, I’ve been a subscriber for maybe 2 years or more. Big fan for the most part.
Thankfully, since we home school, I have a few more weeks before we do back to school! I am looking forward to it some respects but not the more laid back schedule of summer. š
I’m super excited too, though, about the college students headed back, as my partner and I have been invited to speak at USC about “The Freshman 15” and our Beyond The Freshman 15 membership site!! Can’t wait to see what is ahead for us with this project! Would LOVE for you to stop by and give us your thoughts on the public part of the site (linked with my comment)! š
Yeah another subscription box review. I’m thinking about doing them myself this one looks like great one.
Your son is adorable! I have thought about Julep but thought it was only nail polish. I didn’t know they had skincare and makeup too.
I’ve heard about the nail polish subscription boxes and I love the beautiful colors that they send. I get my nails done often so I would love that.
I love the concept of Friday 5…..And yes, we start back to school on the 25th. I’m just not really ready, but also sooo ready at the same time.
What a cute kid enjoying some cool treats for summer š
I always thought it would be fun to work at a university. I guess with both of you working in schools, it has been an extremely busy time of the year for you guys!
I love that moment when my children are nicer than normal.. I just wish It was an All the Time kind of thing and not just for a week or so! Cherish it!! and Have fun with all the Back to School stuff at work!
your drink is making me thirsty!!
