fun weekend wrap-up
We so needed this weekend. Even with the springing forward for daylight saving time, I was looking forward to a weekend filled with friends, daylight and plenty of outdoor time.
On Saturday we did some of our grocery shopping/errand running in the morning. Lucas took a longer-than-normal nap (more than 2 hours) and I was so thankful. That meant he would have a good time that evening and would hopefully not melt down. I went for a short run while he napped and ran into some neighbors and really just didn’t take the run seriously at all.
We visited my friends and their kids (it’s so weird to talk about their kids in the plural sense. Their oldest is 9, and their youngest is 3 months.) Lucas had a BLAST. He got to play with Abbey, he didn’t act jealous over Emma. He looked at their cat (she was not a friendly kitty) and he got to eat pizza. I thought for sure he’d fall asleep on our way home, but he managed to stay awake and we stopped at a neighbor’s house before coming home. He didn’t go to bed until after 8 (so late for him) and slept until after 8 this morning (he generally sleeps 11 hours.)
Today we met up with our friends from Tennessee, for brunch. Again, I was nervous with the baby and the time change and just being at a fancier-than-normal restaurant. Our friends’ son is about 6 months older than Lucas, and the boys did SO great! Lucas ate so much food and just had a good time. He fell asleep in the car on the way home, and slept through the car to crib transition (which we always fear.) He only slept 1.5 hours (I also napped about 45 minutes) but that meant he was ready for bed earlier this evening.
We went for a walk both days this weekend, and this evening I ran 3 miles. (Again, no iPod.) When we were outside playing for a bit, I planted spinach seeds. We’ll see if anything grows over the next couple of weeks. The husband went to play disc golf this afternoon, so Lucas and I were on our own for a couple of hours.
And now here we are watching another weekend come to a close. I’m excited about the spring-like weather this week. I will probably be running more than usual at lunchtime, just so I can spend more time with my boys in the evenings.
How was your weekend? Are you ready for spring?
